Levy wrung her hands nervously as she paced her dorm, her mind going a million miles an hour. Fighting against Lu-chan? I'm not strong enough! She had been having this argument with herself since they arrived back in Hargeon. She knew Gajeel would want to fight Natsu himself, so she would be in a face off with the celestial mage. Before she could worry anymore, a large thump drew her attention to her window, causing her to squeek. Gajeel frowned at her, tapping on the glass as he hung on to the window sill. Levy pulled her window open for her glaring boyfriend. "What are you doing?" She asked in a hushed voice, knowing Erza was in her room.

"Iv been trying to get your attention and it wasn't working." He said, still frowning. "You ok?" His voice was a little softer and she smiled slightly. "Just nervous.... I'm afraid I'm going to let you down in the fight. That I'll just hold you back, and I don't think I stand a chance against st Lu-chan. Wendy isn't allowed to heal contestants and I'm still ruffed up from the other exams..." She was rambling now and Gajeel couldn't get a word in edge wise, so he silenced her with a quick kiss. Levy blushed bright red, still unused to the intimate contact.

"Calm down Lev, you'll do great." Between the grin and use of the new nickname Levy couldn't help but smile. "You think so?" She asked quietly. He snorted and ruffled her hair, "I know so short stuff. Now let's get going, wear something good for fighting." He said before leaping out her window. Levy quickly changed in the shorts and tank top she used for training before throwing on her sneakers. After throwing on a pink headband, not wanting to ruin the one Gajeel bought her, she ran out of the dorms to meet the dragon slayer.

The two made their way to the arena that the master had had built for the exams. The entire guild was seated in the stands when they arrived, just in time to meet Natsu and Lucy in the center of the arena. "Here are the rules!" The master shouted from the judges box in the stands. "If you are knocked down there will be a ten count. If your are knocked down three times you are out. The last team or person standing is the winner. Any questions?" The pairs shook their heads as they all took stance, the women a bit away from their slayer companions.

The stands fell erily silent, the tension thick in the air. "Begin!" The dragon slayers dashed at each other, a wave of magic washed over the battleground and nearly knocking Lucy and Levy over. The bluenette took advantage of Lucy trying to right herself. "Solid Script: Quake!" She slammed the word into the ground and the ground beneath them shook, but Levy kept her ground. Lucy tumbled but rolled back to her feet. "Solid Script : Wings!" She slapped the word to her chest and took to the air, shocking the blonde.

Lucy pulled out a golden key, "Open Gate of the Scorpion: Scorpio!" She shouted. With a bell and a flash of gold, the celestial spirit materialized. "Take her out of the air!" She called. "Sand Buster!" He shouted in response, a tunnel of sand shooting out of his stinger. Levy grinned as she worked quickly with her pen. "Solid Script:Cyclone!" The wind met the sand, and with some effort, dispersed it. Lu-chan is so strong! She could practically feel the energy radiating off of the blonde and the spirit. Levy remembered Lucy telling her that spirits were only as strong as their wizard. "No holding back Levy-chan!" Lucy called. Levy grinned, "Not in a million years Lu-chan!"

On the other side of the arena, the two dragon slayers were having their own fierce battle. Gajeel was covered in his own scales and shadows oozed from his body. Natsu crackled with fire and electricity, the heat coming from him was suffocating. Some of the spectators moved back into the stands, feeling that if they were too close they would be obliterated. Almost simultaneously the two dragons took deep breaths and let loose their roars, the magic colliding in the center with a minor explosion. Gajeel used the blast as a cover and rushed forward, his shadow to the ground, and only emerged when he was directly in front of Natsu.

Gajeels iron coated fist made contact with Natsus chin, sending him tumbling back. The pink haired dragon slayer quickly righted himself, already armed with another breath attack. Gajeel wrapped himself in his iron wings as the breath attack struck, causing him to skid backwards in the dirt. " Iron Dragons Sword!" He shouted, his arm shooting towards Natsu. He dodged to the side, though the blade still sliced his arm. The pinkette dashed forward, "Fire Dragons Secret Art: Crimson Lotus Exploding Flame Blade!" Gajeel smirked as he lept into the air, using his wings to take him higher. As the flames grew closer he dropped from the sky. "Karma demon: Demon spiral!" Gajeel spun in the air, his legs turned into a giant drill. The flames surrounded him but the air pressure created by the drill dispersed most of the fire, creating minimal damage.

Natsu jumped back, Gajeel barely catching his leg with his drill. Both slayers stood, Natsu tried not to put weight on his injured leg. There was suddenly a cry from the crowd and Gajeel was faintly aware of the end of a countdown. "And Levy McGarden is down and out! Let's get her to Wendy!" Gajeel felt his heart clench and he turned from Natsu to see a battered and bloody Levy being carried off by Jet. "Pay attention Gajeel!" Gajeel whipped his head around just as Natsus flaming fist met his face, send him tumbling back. Gajeel growled as he flipped back onto his feet. Both dragons were low on energy already, having gone all out with their first few attacks. Gajeel saw Natsu preparing for a final attack, and it was one he recognized. Gajeel clapped his hands above his head, pulling in all of his magic. "Iron Dragons Secret Art: Karma Demon: Iron God's Sword!" As Gajeel prepared for his attack, Natsu struck. "Crimson Lotus: Fire Dragons Fist!"

Those in the stands near by ran as the attacks struck, obliterating the stands close by and kicking up a heavy cloud of dirt. There was silence as the crowd watched the dirt clear, revealing both slayers barely standing and breathing heavily. Gajeels scales were gone, and Natsu scarf was barely hanging onto his neck. In a last effort to best the other, the dragon slayers charged forward, lashing out with their fists. In a move that shocked the crowd, the slayers went down in a double knock out. The silence was deafening before the announcer spoke again. "B-both slayers are down! By technical knock out, the winner is Lucy Heartfillia!" The celestial mage looked at the unconscious slayers in disbelief before doubling over in laughter, her guild mates soon joining her. "I win! Pay up you bitches!" Cana shouted, earning more laughter and some cursing from her guild mates that lost the bet.

{Soo I'm terrible at fight scenes. That is what took this chapter so damn long.}
