opies POV
I looked up from under the hood of the car when I heard abby laughing. kozik stood in the doorway of the office flirting with her, my hand tightened around the wrench in my hand.
"make a move man" jax said stepping next to me.
"what?"
"I see you. you cant get mad about that if you're not gonna man up and ask her out." he said nodding towards abby and kozik.
"nah it's not like that. we're barely friends."
"whatever you say. you worried you dont have enough game?"
"fuck you. I got game." I grumbled looking back down at the cars engine.
"then fucking do something instead of admiring. its pathetic. before someone else beats you to it." jax walked away before I could argue back.
I glanced back towards the office abby was looking down at the desk. I watched as she went through the papers she looked up and her eyes locked on mine, I couldnt look away. I couldn't tell how she felt about me watching her but she did smile at me before she looked away to answer the phone.
I felt like a damn teenager again, not sure how to make my move. I was with donna for a few years and before her I really didnt need "game" as jax called it. just being who I was, the son of a son made it easy to get laid when I was in high school. I never actually had to work hard for it or to take a girl on a date. the only exception was donna and it had been so long ago. but abby wasnt donna. I needed to get to know her and gain her trust before I could even think about asking her out, that much I knew.
ever since abby showed up simple hello's werent enough for me. even though that's all she normally said until a couple weeks ago. at first I thought she just didnt like me but now i get that shes closed off and doesnt open up easily. I plan on breaking down her walls.
I walked into the clubhouse to see abby shooting pool by herself. I didnt hide the fact that I was checking her out as I walked up.
"I'll play you after I clean up"
"oh yeah sounds good. dont get mad when i kick your ass" she winked at me then laughed. I watched as she went behind to bar to pour herself a drink before I went towards my dorm.
after taking a quick shower and changing I was annoyed when i walked back to the bar and seen kozik at the pool table playing abby, flirting yet again. I grabbed a beer before going over.
"took you long enough" she joked
after a few minutes she beat kozik and he went to the bar. we started playing and joking around. after a couple rounds we sat down with jax and tig to play cards.
"who raised you? you hustled me at pool, know how to play poker anything you cant do?" jax joked
"not much. I'm great at everything I do" she winked
tig whistled "I bet you are doll."
abby laughed and rolled her eyes. after a few minutes her phone started ringing she checked who it was and jumped up smiling "I have to take this." she said walking away.
I looked at jax who shrugged his shoulders not knowing who it was. tig grabbed a croweater and left the game to. we moved to the bar, after a while jax went to his dorm with a croweater. I decided to go home once I finished my beer.
I walked outside and seen abby sitting on a table wiping her eyes as she talked. now I had to stay, make sure she was okay.
"you alright" I asked as I sat down next to her.
she wiped her eyes again "oh yeah I'm good." she smiled at me
"im here if you want or need to talk. what did you tell me? sometimes its easier to get it out?"
"that was my brother. hes in Iraq. havent talked to him in over a month honestly had no idea if he was still alive. him and the team do the top missions. was my team until I got out. its dangerous. I trust them all with my own life, to have his back, each others back to but I still worry since I'm not there and don't hear from him that often. they were supposed to come home next week for a couple months before going back. but now it's gotten pushed back and he may not be able to come home for a good nine months. hes been over there for nine already. I miss him. hell I miss our team. I dont miss being in the war zone but I miss my family."
"that must be hard. I have no idea what that's like. I couldnt imagine. i bet its stressful having to worry and hope they're all okay. I dont have the words to make you feel better but I know something that might help."
"I dont think getting drunk and crashing here will help." she said laughing. there it was again I would do anything to hear it.
"that is an option. but no come on let's go for a ride." I stood up
"wait you mean on your bike" she asked. she almost sounded shy and I could have swore she blushed.
"yeah, I mean on the bike. itll be fun you'll love it."
having abby on the back of my bike was amazing. she had her arms wrapped around me, I could feel her cheek against my back and her thighs pressed against mine. I almost needed to pull over when she moved her hands to where they were flat against my stomach instead of gripping each other.
I rode through main street so I had to go slower just so I could keep abby on the back of my bike. we rode for hours all over town, the outskirts were beautiful. but not as beautiful as she is.
after a couple hours she asked me if we could stop at the diner.
