She flies as high as she can go smiling soaring in the skies
Riding the winds to her hearts biggest desire
Sometimes she stops and takes a branch enjoying her day and singing her song
She gets stronger and stronger flying everyday
One day she flew so high she saw stars
But they weren't stars
It was the points of a grid, a metal grid
She touched the stars only to realize it was a wall, and it wouldn't let her fly any higher
So she flew down thinking she had touched the stars
She had heard of an ocean and now she knew she could fly, truly fly
So she made her way to the crashing sounds of waves and smell of sea breeze
She reached it and saw the shiny spots that appear over the ocean
But it wasn't the ocean spots and waves
It was the points of a grid, a metal grid
She played in the ocean trying to fly out as far as she could, but it wouldn't let her
So she flew away thinking she knew what the ocean was
She had heard of a mountain and now she could fly, really truly fly
So she maid her way to the snow, feeling the cold air push her down as she kept going
She fought the could air until she saw when the mountain stopped
She looked and a blizzard appeared
But it wasn't a blizzard
It was points of a grid, a metal grid
So the bird decided to rest at her home
She rested, she slept
For she had discovered so much
She woke up fuzzy
She felt jostled confused what had happened she wondered
She looked up and saw the stars, wait the stars?
She looked towards the ocean and saw the spray, wait what?
She looked up at her familiar mountain to see if a blizzard was coming and she was on the mountain
She wondered what happened what was happening
Did the world shrink?
Why did she no longer feel wonder by the stars joy by the ocean and adventure by the mountain?
She sat trying to decphier what had happened
Maybe it was a dream?
But everyday it got worse
She soon realized her ocean was a water bowl
Her mountain was a towel on a shelf
And her stars, it was just her roof
Her only friends now were pink talon like things
They fed her and pet her sometimes
They would screech whenever they pet her or something happened
She called out to them and begged them to stop but they just got mad and made it night
Then she realized her night was fake too
She started to cry and fell asleep
She dreamt of her mountain her ocean and her stars
Had she left them? Or had they left her?
Either way she realized what she was
A bird in a cage.
