Emma stormed into the hotel and up to the third floor to her room. Just her an three other people were living up there the only room that was left had been taken two weeks ago and it was still empty. She wondered who would rent a room in a hotel and not even stay there.

She tried not to really think about anything as she went into her room and went to bed. After her run in with Beau, Emma did everything she could to not think about his body or his masculine scent. If she ever caught sight of him, she would just go the other way in the future.

Her body seemed to have different feelings for the drunken cowboy than what her mind thought.

It was early morning but Emma could still feel his arms wrapped around her as his warm breath was at her neck and she could feel his manhood pressed into her stomach. Emma pictured the confrontation over and over especially at night when her mind would wonder to the handsome dusty cowboy. His touch was feather light and she knew in her mind that if he wanted to hurt her he could crush the life out of her, but something in the way he held her and his warm eyes made her feel safe.

Emma gave herself a mental shake and chastised herself for having any sort of feelings like these. She had a class to get to and was not going to let some drunken cowboy that had no manners for a lady get in her way.

When she reached her classroom, she opened the door then sat her books on the desk at the front of the room. She tried taking her mind off the cowboy by writing that day's assignment on the blackboard.

She had finally started to ignore what happened  and just focused on what was in front of her that was until she heard a noise then looked up to see Nathan Berg smirking at her from the doorway.

Emma paled and quickly stood behind her desk trying to mask her fear of being in the same room with this man. She had always sensed something bad about him.

She had met him in town a few months prior to this about settling the debt owed on her grandparents farm, Mr. Berg was supposed to check on it and let her know.

Emma always hated meeting Berg because he would look at her body as he  licked his lips. His eyes were cold and full of hate. He had cornered Emma several time over the last few months always wanting to buy her a meal or a drink while  always putting his hands on her.

Nathan's eyes were evil, sinister and he just unnerved the hell out of her.  Emma thought he was very happy to  always be  harassing her while  making snide remarks when they discussed her grandparent's farm.

"Mr. Berg, is there something I can help you with this morning?" Emma folded her hands behind her back as she straightened her spine so he could not see her hands shaking.

He moved from the doorway across the classroom to her desk then tapped his finger on the hardwood, looking up at her with hooded eyes from under his hat.

"Now Emma sweetheart, I just came by to talk with you about the back taxes that are owed out on your grandparents place," he told her.

"Well, what are they Mr. Berg?" she demanded.

Nathan had a lazy smile on his face.

"Well Hun, it's over one thousand dollars due immediately, but we could always work something out to right your wrong." He said as he had a smirk on his face.

She clutched her chest, she was lost for words. She couldn't believe he was trying to rope her into thinking if she became his whore that life would be peachy.

"Baby, we could have a really good time, you could be really good to me and I can make some of that money disappear that's owed on your taxes." He whispered close to her ear as Emma tensed up.

She was scared, she hated this guy and feared him, but he knew this already. He knew that if she got scared enough maybe, just maybe he could finally have his way with her.

"You see Emma, I have been watching you since I came to this god forsaken place and I have been with many whores but, I am looking to find myself a sure enough lady, like yourself." he told her as he moved closer and gripped her arm tight.

Emma was now trying to free herself from his grip, she  could feel her heart starting to pick up its pace like a race horse taking off to the finish line. He could see her fear and laughed at her struggle then he started to get pissed off.

"Now look here Emma! I can be a gentle man when I want to be and this is one of those times you see, but if you don't accept my offer you're going to see how not so gentle I can be. And damn it Emma, I will not wait long for you to make up your mind on this matter!" He said through clenched teeth, looking her dead in the eyes then after a second, he pushed her into the corner of her desk as he headed for the door walking out.

Emma gripped her stomach, as hitting the desk straight on took her breath away. Soon, as she was able to breathe again, her heart rate slowed to normal.

She knew that she needed to get to the jail and let Able know what Berg had done an before it was too late, before she gets hurt or even worse, killed.

She grabbed her purse and shawl and ran out of her classroom, she was scared and needed someone to help her that could keep her safe from Berg. He can't go around making threats and shoving innocent women around she told herself as she set off for the jail.
