The day has gone so fast and what we could only remember was the chilling sensation we've got after Kelly, Lia's mother, froze their entire house leaving nothing but broken appliances and wet furniture. What seems to be the most probable explanation of why we lost our consciousness, was the capability of the ice element to make us fall asleep, maybe. But what matters now is that Lia is finally back.
"Anong plano n'yo?" Princess butted in. Suddenly, she's here. I have not noticed her coming inside the apartment because of how occupied my mind is.
She offered me a cup of coffee and sat down beside me. I was hesitant to accept it but realized it was ages since I last tasted caffeine in my system.
"Now that we've got Lia back, we'll focus on finding the Princess again," I responded, convincing myself that was the best thing to do.
"I see."
I took a sip from my coffee and looked at her. She's acting strange and I can feel something is bugging her. Add more how unsteady her thoughts are.
"What's the matter?"
Suddenly, I heard her heave a deep and troubled sigh before sitting straight up.
"You know Luiz, right?" She started. I nodded and averted my eyes unto hers but I am not so sure on what's going on in her mind, which is kind of strange.
My skill in reading one's thoughts is straightforward. The more unsettled a person's thoughts are, the easier I am able to read their minds. The more unconscious someone is, the more conscious I am with what's inside his head. Meanwhile, when they become too focused and serious, something like a barrier that protects their thoughts makes me incapable of using my skill. However, in some cases where I use my skill to full potential, I can read a glimpse of a person's thoughts even if he's guarding it perfectly.
But.
"Are you hiding me something, Princess?"
"N-No! Of course not!" she stuttered, her hands were quick to reach my arms. I did not even remember when did she put aside the canned coffee she was holding.
"Luiz was a close friend of mine, back in the academy days."
The Academy, huh? For a moment I was brought back to our wonderful experience in the academy. The professors, my friends, and Calme.
"Uh-huh, and?"
"It was last month when he returned to this world after he completed the Zartiniera Quest."
Yes, I remember that quest he was tasked to accomplish for him to be allowed to go back to the human world again. The quest no one knows until he was recognized for doing such great work. I remember exchanging handshakes with him before. We talked for a bit, but we don't seem to fit together, though he's kind.
"Okay, can you tell me directly what is going on?"
Her face became gloomy after I said that. Hey, I do not mean to offend her! What the breast!
"He attacked Lia's University yesterday. Parehong oras nang pumunta kayo ni Dave sa bahay ni Lia para kumbinsihin siya ulit" My mind has literally stopped for a couple of seconds after hearing that news.
"What? Why didn't ybou told me yesterday?" I flustered, spilling some hot coffee from the can to my fingers. I was fast to wipe my finger to my jeans after that.
"You were stressed the entire day, for Pete's sake," she reasoned out, my mind was still on her news. He attacked the same time when we went to Lia's house?
