Madeleine knocked on the door.
"One sec, mom!" Scott opened the bedroom door and Madeleine gave him a sheepish grin. "Oh, hi."
"Hey Scott. Mind if I come in?" He opened the door wider and motioned for her to come in. "I just wanted to stop by and make sure you're okay."
"I feel fine now, but the weirdest thing happened." He looked hesitant to tell her. "The bite...it's completely gone."
"What?!" Madeleine gave Scott a confused look. "Can I see it?"
Scott nodded and lifted up his shirt. "Not much to see." He was right, his skin looked as if nothing had happened to it.
"Holy shit," Madeleine said. "Maybe the rush of adrenaline helped speed up the process? Still, I don't see how that could happen."
"I don't know either." Scott shrugged, pulling his shirt back down. "I guess I'll just count myself lucky."
Madeleine sighed. "Alright, well, I'm glad you're feeling okay. Oh, and Scott?" He turned from the bed, now with his backpack slung over his shoulders. "If you ever need anything, want to hang out, whatever, just give me a call." She handed him her business card. "I can be the cool older sister you never had."
Scott smiled.
-
Madeleine was sitting at her desk at the Whittemoore firm. 4:56. Only 4 minutes to go.
Brrring, brring.
"Hello?" She answered her phone.
"Hi, Madeleine? It's Scott."
"Hey Scott! What's going on?"
"Would you wanna help Stiles and I look for my inhaler in the woods?"
Madeleine chuckled. "Do you need me for that? You're capable, growing boys."
"C'mon, I wanna introduce you to Stiles. Plus three sets of eyes are better than two."
"Alright, alright. I get off work in-" 4:58. "-two minutes, I'll run home and change and meet you at the Reserve."
"Sounds good. 5:15 then?"
"See you then." Madeleine hung up and gathered her things into her briefcase.
-
"Hey guys!" Madeleine walked up to the two boys leaning on the baby blue Jeep, now in black yoga pants and a Stanford sweatshirt.
"Stiles, this is Madeleine. She was stalking me in the woods last night."
Madeleine lightly smacked his arm. "Not stalking, just...curiously following. Hi Stiles, it's nice to meet you." He shook her hand and looked slightly gobsmacked.
"You're like...really hot, why are you friends with Scott?" That earned Stiles a smack from Scott.
"Well, I did follow him, the least I can do is be friends," she laughed. "Plus, I'm new to Beacon Hills. I might be seven years older than you guys, but it's still nice to make some friends."
"Wait, you're how old?" Madeleine and Scott just laughed.
"So, you dropped your inhaler. That's not good, they're pretty expensive."
"Yeah, tell me about it," Scott huffed. "Although, it was weird, normally I need it at least once every lacrosse practice. Today I didn't need it at all."
Stiles coughed. "Yeah, Scott, let's talk about that practice. Since when were you so freaking good at lacrosse?"
"I don't - I don't know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball. And that's not the only weird thing. I - I can - hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things."
