What the hell is going on...? My head is throbbing. I can feel something dripping down the side of my head. What happened? Holy shit am I bleeding? I feel lightheaded like I'm gonna throw up, and my ears are ringing... Did I get hit on my head? Why can't I move ?? Am I tied up to a chair?? What the hell is happening?
The room was too dark to see anything, it was pitch black no matter where I looked. My body was so sore and probably covered in bruises it hurt to move even an inch. As I was trying to figure out what was going on, I thought I heard someone walk in but I wasn't sure because of the constant ringing in my ears. A faint light appeared in the room along with what looked to be a person. I squinted my eyes to try and get a better look at whoever it was who was walking towards me, but I had no luck. The light began to move towards me and I got an overwhelming sense of fear; I closed my eyes and looked down to avoid any eye contact with whoever this was. I felt a hand under my chin forcefully make me lookup. Their hand roughly grabbed my cheeks and squished my face, as I wasn't being cooperative with them; I tried to turn my head away from them but their other hand grabbed and pulled my hair violently in retaliation. They pulled harder and I couldn't help but whine and inhale sharply.
"Ay, open your eyes." It was a guy's voice, but I had never heard it before, I had no clue who he was. He clicked his tongue in annoyance as I kept my eyes tightly shut. He pulled my hair tighter until I opened my eyes.
He was actually quite attractive, but that's beside the point. The expression on his face was blank, maybe a hint of annoyance if anything. His eyes were dark, barely illuminated by the candle by his side. His gaze was piercing, intense but cold. I started to panic.
"What do you want from me? Money? How much does he own you? It may take some time, but I promise to pay it back, please don't kill me!" I begged him.
The next moment, I was struck at my side. He kicked me pretty hard, I felt like I was going to vomit up blood at any second. I groaned in pain, it was definitely going to leave a bruise.
"How did you find out about us? Which gang do you belong to, who do you work for?"
"W-what...?" I asked in a daze from trying to catch my breath. "What do you mean 'find out about us?' And what gang?? I - I'm not in a gang... I'm sorry, but I don't know what you're talking about."
The man squatted down and reached into one of his pockets and pulled something out. Getting rather close to me, he opened what sounded like a switchblade and dangled it in front of my eyes.
"Still telling lies now, are we?" He drags the knife across my arm, leaving a tiny cut mark that started to bleed.
"Please! I'm telling you the truth! I don't know what you're-" I tried to reason with him but it was no use. He said nothing to me and stood up, looking over me. He suddenly thrust his arm into the air, ready to strike back down somewhere into my body. I flinched, eyes swelling up with tears at the thought of dying, especially dying to somebody who I didn't even know. His arm came down, ready to pierce my throat. I closed my eyes in anticipation and-
A phone rang. Mere centimeters from my neck, he held the knife in its striking position momentarily before bringing it down and pulling out his phone. I was shaking badly and was trying to not hyperventilate.
"What is it RM, I'm a little busy right now." He answered. "What do you mean it's the wrong person?" I could hear the man on the other side of the phone, he was practically yelling he was so loud.
"The one you have is named Choi Youngjae, Korean, born on September 17, 1996, 5'8, Personality: cheerful, bright, nickname: "Sunshine", has 4 part-time jobs, goes to work at 9 am comes home at 3 am, lives with his alcoholic father, he-"
"Stop, that's enough. I don't need to know his whole life story." The man before me spoke. He pinched the bridge of his nose and mumbled something along the lines of 'God fuckin damit...' "How the fuck did this even happen then?"
"Well, at least he wasn't lying," another man shrouded in darkness spoke, entering the room. "What are you gonna do now, Boss?" He hesitated before coming to a conclusion.
"Keep him."
And that's the last thing I remember from that day. I was dizzy and I think I fainted. I woke up in a strange room, panicked, lost, confused. It looked like my old room, all of my stuff was there, but it was completely rearranged... This had to have been some sort of weird fever dream, there's no way this was real. My hands were free, so I grabbed my head trying to think back to what happened.
I was on my way back home from my job, and it was pitch black outside, but that's exactly strange for me. I was walking home and... and...? I think I was being followed? All I remember was feeling a pain in my head and next thing I knew I was on the ground and then I ended up at the other room. I glanced around the room again, having now attempted to collect my thoughts. It was my stuff, but it was not my room. Everything was there, my old dresser, my cracked mirror, everything. I could almost feel my blood pressure start to rise as my breathing quickened. I gotta get out of here. I stumbled to get up onto my feet, my head still throbbing from before. I didn't even know how much time passed. My fingers went numb with adrenaline as I looked for an exit. I noticed a window to my left and lunged towards it. I quickly opened it and looked down, only to see that there was a deathly drop. I had to have been on either the fifth or sixth floor. I slowly closed the window and sat down on the bed. I didn't even attempt to touch the handle of the front door; there was no telling what they'd do to me.
Shit! What am I gonna do... Then, the doorknob turned slowly and someone pushed into the room. I held my breath as two figures stepped into the room.
"Hey, kitten~ feeling goo- Ouch! What?!"
"Stop, just stop." Well, at least one of them knew how to read the situation. "Hello, Youngjae. My name is Park Jinyoung and that idiot right there is Jackson Wang."
I pulled my legs closer to my body and brought my arms in, very uncomfortable in the situation. I hesitated before I spoke. "Why... am I here? I'm not the person you were looking for, so why am I here?"
"Good question, we don't know. Boss decided it would be too much of a risk to let you go after what happened. I don't know, maybe he fancies you or something." Wang joked. Park immediately stomped on his foot. "Ay! Stop!" He cried.
Park smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes... I should've known. He straightened his tie and cleared his throat. "As you may have noticed, this is where you will be staying until further notice. The Boss has asked us to show you around, so that's what we came to do. Now if you would step outside." He pulled the door open and motioned with his hand to exit. Reluctantly, I stood up and followed Wang as he walked out, Park sticking closely behind us.
The building where I was being held (against my will albeit) was much larger than I thought it was. There had to be more than 50 rooms just on my floor alone. Both of them were telling me specifically what was on each floor, but I was too nervous to pay much attention. We stopped at a rather large door.
"This is the Boss's room. You will be working here while he is also here so that he can keep an eye on you. Jaebeo- oh, I mean JB, his orders." Park knocked gently on the door. "Jb, we have the boy you wanted to see."
"Come in." We heard a voice from behind the door. "Thank you, Jinyoung you may leave now." He bowed and gave a small smile and wave to their Boss before leaving.
"You... your name was Youngjae, correct?" I tried to say 'yes,' but I choked up from nervousness and just nodded my head. He puffed out a cloud smoke and put out the cigarette that was in his hand in a nearby ashtray.
"Well, Youngjae, from now you are to be in my line of sight at all times, understand? And if you try to do anything suspicious, that pretty little head of you will be gone. Have I made myself clear?" I nodded again. "You'll be like my secretary, you will address me as 'Boss'." He pointed to a desk adjacent to the one he was seated at. "All of your essentials are on that desk, but we can make accommodations if necessary." He stood up and pushed his chair in, fixing his suit.
"For tomorrow, however, I have somewhere to be and you will be coming with me."
