NUMBER FIVE:
—
And although this goes without saying, Hanako is pretty childish for someone who's technically a grandpa
But that's to be expected. No matter how chronologically old he is, Hanako is still the same, young boy. The boy who she caught a glimpse of. Yugi Amane.
Hanako is like a touch-starved affection-spoiled cat that would always — and I mean always — find a way for him to touch her in some sort of way. Be it hugging her waist, hugging her shoulders, hugging her ankles, resting his head on top of hers, it always ends up with Hanako hogging Yashiro's personal space. But Yashiro doesn't mind. She never did in the first place.
Yashiro is also touch-starved, too, in a way. She craved romantic attention because she used to never get any from boys, and now, Hanako showed up. She felt whole with him. Yashiro secretly looked forward to Hanako suddenly tackling her into a bear hug whenever they'd see each other in school — she'd act like she's annoyed, but she knew that Hanako also noticed she'd hug back.
Hanako is an affectionate boy, and Yashiro craved affection.
Stupid, isn't it? It's stupidly simple.
Hanako is also known — at least, to everyone who has personally met him — to be mischievous. He likes to annoy people constantly with his teasing, and there's also the fact that he has this desire to cause trouble whenever he wants to. A trouble-making brat, literally all of the mysteries would say if they were asked to describe him. This might become problematic at times, but it just means there's never a dull moment with him.
Another trait that Yashiro is unsure of what to feel about is that Hanako is. . .playfully perverted. A slimy pervert. Hanako is a slimy, playful pervert. Maybe it was because he was technically still a growing boy and doesn't know the meaning of the phrase being mature, but Hanako really likes to talk about a girl's body. It's only really annoying to Yashiro whenever Hanako would drool over models in magazines.
She's not jealous or anything, though. Nope. What are you talking about?
All these childish antics aside, Hanako is pretty reliable. He would always save her whenever she needed it; maybe it's because Yashiro is his assistant and it's strictly business, but a girl could dream, alright? Let her dive in her fantasies before it's too late.
If there's anyone else in the world who is surprisingly capable of protecting everyone it's Hanako. Why is it surprising? Because Hanako acts like a child (then again, he is a child). He's too cheerful, too sweet, too much of a brat.
But he's caring.
He cares for all of those dear to him. Yashiro is happy to be one of those people, because she gets to see a side of Hanako she never thought even existed. Yashiro never thought Hanako was easily flustered, either, but you can never expect anything with Hanako.
He's an enigma that could never be really solved. There's always a missing piece in his puzzle Yashiro can never get her hands on — but that's okay. It's all okay. It just meant that everyday, every passing hour, minute, second, there will come a moment where Hanako will reveal a part of himself deep in his heart. It excited Yashiro.
Another endearing trait Hanako has is his passion. Passion for what? That depends. His passion for donuts, passion for protecting his friends — but Yashiro's personal favorite is his passion for the night sky.
Astronomy was a topic that can never fail to cheer Hanako up. He's able to ramble for days, years even about his knowledge about the moon and stars. She remembered the day they were at the rooftop, Amane lying on his back as Yashiro was beside him. He told her about the ghost star. He seemed to relate to it. Yashiro's heart ached at that time.
Deep inside, Yashiro wished Hanako would be passionate about her, too.
Wait, where is she even going with this!? Yashiro wildly shook her head in embarrassment, her cheeks coated in a red blush. Let's just get this over with.
The fifth in the list of things Yashiro loves about Hanako is: his personality, because it's simply captivating. You can't help but fall for him more once you know who he really is. He's not just some boy that's been trapped in his own self-loathing, he's the same young boy as he is back then no matter how hard he tries to hide it.

Hanako had asked Yashiro to come by the rooftop this day, which unnerved Yashiro a bit. The last time they went there, things went a bit. . . emotionally hectic for Yashiro's poor brain. Too much memories were held by that one place.
Yashiro stared at the back of Hanako's head nervously as the boy gazed above, eyes glued on the moon and the moon only. It was that perfect moment where it was a full moon, where you can vividly see the golden ball above accompanied by sprinkles of stars. The view was pretty, sure, but Yashiro can't take her eyes off of Hanako.
"So you really did come," Hanako said, making Yashiro flinch because his back was still showing, meaning that he just sensed her presence. Hanako turned around, a soft smile creeping up his face, his cheeks seeping with a rose-colored tint — even from the dim view, Yashiro can see it clearly. It suited Hanako, in a strange way.
Yashiro trudged over towards him, steps light and dainty, as if careful not to make any noise. "Hanako-kun, what did you call me here for?"
Hanako lowered his head, his hat almost covering his eyes which concerned Yashiro deeply. Kou was right: Hanako is acting strange. If there was something bothering him, then surely he'll say it now.
"I have something to say to you, Yashiro," Hanako muttered. "I've been wanting to say it for a while now, but I was a bit scared that you would hate me for it."
"Hanako-kun, I would never—!"
Hanako chuckled. "I know. That's why I'm saying it now." Hanako took a deep breath, and watched as Yashiro's lips parted in surprise with his words.
