It's my Kingdom

Chapter 5

Clarice POV:

We were in a military hideout underground. I felt like I had slept enough but I couldnt see anything.

I didn't know what time it was. Everybody else seemed to be sleeping.

I heard someone move behind me, it was Rain. She got up and turned on a lamp.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"I don't know but I think its already daytime."

I got up and went out of this bunker thing.

I could hear water not to far from here so I wandered in that direction.

A young Woman with two braids was washing some clothes at the bank of the river.

"Dorethy come fast" someone called out, "Rupert  is back!"

The girl jumped up and left the clothes there and ran towards the voice.

I took the clothes and ran after.

I wondered what had happened. I wanted to know everything about my Kingdom.

As we entered the village road a young man was standing there.

He had lost an arm and seemed to come from War.

She ran towards him wordlessly.

She hugged him tightly for a long time and didn't stop crying.

It was a very touching scene.

Then I saw another young Man come out, another soldier.

He was very young, maybe 14 or younger.

He kissed the hands of Dorethy and of the soldier and walked away down the road.

What was going on?
I couldn't understand.

I stepped closer.
Well I shouldn't intrude.

"Rupert" she cried.

"I dont want this, please lets go somewhere else. He is to young.
Why do we have to pray the price for everything."

"Be quiet,I dont want you to leave me to" Rupert said while looking aroud with fear in his eyes.

He then spotted me.

"Hey you, who are you?
What are you doing here?"

He shouted in a mannerless way.

Now everyone else looked at me to.

"Uhm you left these clothes at the Riverside."

I said to the Woman while handing it over.

"Dont get involved with our stuff I am warning you."He said.

"It's oka.." the woman wanted to say as Rupert showed her to be quiet.

I cant tell them.that I can help them.
I dont know how to get close to them but something was awfully wrong here.

They went inside a house and left me alone on the street.

As I was wondering what to do a young girl jumped out of the Tree above my head and startled me.

"Woah! Who are you? Monkey in the Tree?"
I asked out of suprise.

She laughed lightly.
"My name is Ignez and according to the evolution theorie I am a Human already."

"Well then what were you doing in the Tree? "

"Oh nothing much just chillin around."

"Well do you know what this is about?"

"Hmm tell me a reason why I should tell you. It's not like I know you or something so that I can trust you in not bringing them any trouble."

"Well I am Clarice. Who are they to you?"

"Its a long story darling come with me"she replied.

We walked back to the River.

She sat down on the ground and stretched her legs.

I just stood there. I wanted to help them not chill around.

" Come on, why are you standing around like that? Sit down Chica."

Ines invited me.

I sat down with a sigh. 

" So what up with them ?"

"Oh it's pretty common around here. Rupert came back from war because he is Injured so his son has to take his place. They want every family to participate and they dont care how old the soldiers are or what their background story is. They say it's a Duty everyone is obliged to do for their Country."

" Who are they?"

" King and Queen , Bates and his selfish Wife."

Oh there they go badmouthing me again.

" How do you know the Queen is involved?"

" Uhm ... well he takes dresses and flowers from us forcefully and kidnapped some designers and Tailors. I mean.. I bet he didn't get all of that for himself."

Oh great what the hell is this dude up to. I hope this just means that he has more brides and not that he wants to get me back.

"Oh .... I get  it. Soo how could I help them? I mean Dorethy and her Family."

" Oh well that is indeed a good question. I have no Idea otherwise I wouldn't be hanging around here the whole Time doing nothing."

"What are they to you? I mean how are you guys related?"

"Oh uhmm well ..

Dorethy is my Aunt. My Parents have passed away and my brother went to War, so he sent me to my Aunt. But as you see......she already has many Problems and I don't want to be one of them so I decided not to live with her. But....... I don't know what I should do at the moment.  It is just...... I ..... whatever forget it."

We both stayed quiet for a while not knowing what to say as someone called out my name.

" Clarice!!!"

I turned around to a familiar face. 

"Oh hey Jack, What's up?"

"Girl ! Are you crazy ?!?!? "

"Uhm...Why?"

" We are in a strange Region and you disappear. What should we think? We were worried something had happened to you."

"Oh........I am sorry.  I guess I just got a little carried away. I didn't intend on doing that."

"It's okay just don't run away without saying anything again."

I ran up to him and hugged him.

"Thank you."I whispered.

"What it wasn't such a big deal to forgive you"

I chuckled "No, that's not it. You are the first Person in five years to care for me like that."

He stroked my head " No biggie after all you are my Sis right ?"

 I smiled back at him as I stepped back again.

"So...Who are you?" Jack asked the short latin girl behind me.

"Oh this is Ignez." I said, quickly introducing them.

" Nice to meet you " She said.

" We better tell the others I have found you." Jack said as he started to walk again. "Let's meet up at the hideout."  

"Okay see ya bro!"

I found it quite amusing to talk like this. I could have never imagined that I would be able to do that as long as I still lived in the Palace. But now i had Freedom yay.
