I opened my closet before pulling out my satchel, all the while knocking a few things over in it.

"Why does my mom insist that EVERYTHING fit like a puzzle!" I thought to myself as I finally yanked the satchel out, while more shirts fell over me. I tossed it aside before replacing all the stuff I had accidentally moved around. After I cleaned it all up, I placed some items into the bag: Books, pencils, my knife (just in case), and a few other things before closing it up.

I exited my room and head into my kitchen to nab myself a muffin.

"Where are you going, young man?"

I whipped around to see my mom standing in the hall, looking as though she just woke up.

"Oh, I uh..." I began, rubbing my neck, "I was just gonna head out into the forest, explore a bit." I shrugged, "Just getting out of the house."

"Ah..." She said in an understanding tone, "Alright, just be back before dark, don't wander to far, and don't eat any random berries.

I groaned "Mom, I might be a bit dumb, but I'm not an idiot." I said as she began to laugh.

"Alright, alright, I just worry for my little boy." She replied with a smile before giving me a kiss on the forehead.

"I'm seventeen, Mom. And I love you." I said before opening the door.

"I love you too. See you later." She said. And with that, I'm out the door

I had been wandering out in the forest for about an hour, when I finally was getting a bit hungry. I sat down in a small clearing before looking into my satchel. With a bit of digging, I found a bit of wrapped up jerky. I carefully unwrapped it before taking a bite. As I was looking around and listening to the birds, I saw something. It was like wood, but sort of distant and odd shaped. Kind of like... a roof. Maybe even multiple...

I got up to see what it was. I peered through the trees near the edge of the clear and what I saw surprised me. It was a large town with at least thirty buildings. Being a giant usually means living in a house by yourself and your family and being about a mile away from anyone. The only "towns" I have come across usually only have five to ten building with most of them being traders. But this had many buildings, some even looking like houses. Well, duh, there can't be THAT many traders. As I scrutinized the sight a bit more I noticed something odd. It seemed... disproportionate. It couldn't be any more than 100 meters away, yet it seemed so distant. Could it be... Human-made?

No, no way. Humans? Humans are just like... like bugs. Small and insignificant. They barely have more brainpower than a potato... Maybe? That can't be true if this is what I think it is. I need to investigate, but I can't do it at this size. So I will shrink.

Yeah, certain giants can shrink. It's just a trait that less than 1% of the population can do. It hasn't really been helpful other than that one time my pencil fell behind my desk. I was to lazy to move the desk so I just shrunk and carried it out. But maybe it would have been better to just move the desk as it was really darn heavy.

With a sigh, I focused on shrinking and with a bit of discomfort, I was a couple inches tall. Well, I guess I would still be 5'2 but like, to human.
