The next day I went out for a walk. It was a beautiful summer day and I really wanted to go out, I didn't care what people were going to think about me . I put on a tank top and some shorts, flip flops and headed outside.
As I was walk by and admiring the beauty of my neighbourhood, I felt someone jogging up beside me.
"Hey neighbour!" Said a familiar voice.
"Oh sorry, let me introduce myself once again. Hi, I'm Chace and you are?" He smiled at me.
"Um, I'm Lucy." I whispered feeling a little shy and awkward. No one really wants to talk to me anymore so I'm not use to this.
"I'm sorry about yesterday, I just walked away." I said feeling bad about what I did yesterday. He laughed and replied "It's fine."
I nodded my head and we walked in silence till we reached the park by my old elementary school. I sat down at a picnic bench and he sat in front of me. "What a beautiful day today right?" He smiled and I nodded and smile as well. "What school are you going to go to?" I asked.
"The one behind our home, cause it's the closest." He laughed and I nodded feeling a little dumb.
"Why are you here? I mean not be rude but why are you talking to me?" I asked. He chuckled and replied; "You seem like a nice girl to be honest." I shook my head. "Wait until you start school, everyone will make jokes about you hanging out with elephant girl aka me so might as well save both of us the embarrassment and not talk to each other. I mean you'll become popularly really easily." I just looked at me shocked and offended.
"I don't care about popularity to be honest with you Lucy," he said, "I just want to be friends I don't understand what the big deal is!" I could tell he was getting frustrated.
"I'm sorry, I was just trying to warn you."
"I'll handle things when they happen but for right now it's summer! Let's enjoy it without worrying about what happens at school!" I nodded my head.
"I'm sorry." I said.
"It's okay," he chuckled " Let's be friends?" He smiled and stuck out his hand. I smiled back. "Yes let's be friends" we both shook hands and started to laugh.
And at that moment, who knew that Chace and I would still be friends, but I'm grateful that he wasn't a dick to me.
