Ethan's POV

I wake up and feel a sharp pain in my jaw. I had almost forgot about what happened the previous night. Judging by the last two nights here, I have a long year ahead of me. Today was the last day of my life as I know it. As soon as school started I'd be back in a loop of anxiety, flooded with homework, a job, a social life, and time for my family. How in the world am I gonna make it out alive?

Mark's POV (for the sake of switching it up)

I groaned feeling the sunlight burn through my retinas when I opened my eyes. Sleep still washed over me, calling me to come back. I rubbed my eyes, and only then did I notice the eerie pounding and the sharp pain in my head. All I wanted to do was take all of the medication possible and sleep the day away. That clearly wasnt going to happen because Darren must have noticed I was awake and thought it would be fun to thump me on the forehead followed by:
   "You are never drinking again!"
"You're telling me? I'm the one with the headache."
"You and Christian almost beat the living crap out of your roomie!" He raises his voice.
   "Oh shit..." I sigh
"Yeah, oh shit is right! If I didnt come back when I did who knows what could have happened. And for what?" He didnt really seem angry, just disappointed. I sat silently
"I expect you to apologize," he adds. As if on cue Chris walks into the room.
"That goes for you too," Darren snaps his head towards the other boy. I decided that Darren is right, as usual, and get up, throwing on the t-shirt I wore last night. I then grabbed Christians wrist and dragged him away. I opened the door greeted by and angry Kennedy.
"Oh finally they are leaving!" She sighs.
"Aw, dont be like that," I pout. She pushes past me and towards Darren.
"I'm glad my boyfriend is so noble and heroic, but I would rather not scramble to find a place to sleep ever again." Kennedy glares at Chris and me. I continue out the door, lugging a whining Chris behind me. Once we reach my dorm I open the door, soon realizing that nobody was home.
"Dammit" I whisper under my breath. Then back out of the room, dragging Chris to the next place I could think of. After putting up a good fight, Chris decided that he would just walk normal next to me and not be force to follow. Soon enough, we arrive at the only other place I would expect Ethan to be. Lo and behold, there he was, sitting at the exact table he was the first night, giggling with his friends. That sounded kinda stalkerish, but Kendall really liked this place so she insisted we go, Ethan and his friends just happened to be there.

Ethan's POV

"The last day of freedom" Danica sighs.
"Hey! Dont be a party pooper, let's enjoy it while its here!" Emmy demands.
"Anyone got any hot gossip?" Lia prys.
"I had guests at my place last night!" Emmy remembers.
"They were Kendalls friends, but they were really nice and we had a big girls night!" She grins.
"Ooo do tell more" I say intrigued.
"We talked about school, dreams, goals, and relationships, y'know. Just girl things"
"Any of them pique your interest?" Finley questions.
"You know she is on reserve right?" I add.
"I'm starting to think this imaginary love story isnt going to happen..." Finley frowns.
   "Trust me it will!"
"They are all off the market anyway! Kennedy has Darren, Taryn has Chris, and Kendall has Mark" she explains. I drop my shoulders at the names. Great.
   "Hey, what's wro-?" Lia starts
   "Eth-" Finley interrupts.
   "What?"
   "Turn around."
I do as I am told, but quickly turn back toward my friends ducking my head down.
"Who are they?" Danica asks curiously.
"Mark and Christian" I sigh pulling my hood over my head.
"Oh! Speak of the devils. How do you know them?" Emmy laughs unaware.
"Mark is my roommate, and the leader of the delinquents... and Chris..." I point to the bruise on my jaw.
"Chris is the dumbass you were talking about earlier?!" Avery says shocked.
"They are coming over," Finley warns.
"Jesus Christ," I sigh, standing up and walking over to them before they could make it to my table.
"Whatever you want, leave me alone," I whisper
"Hey, I just wanted to-" Mark is cut off by Christian's angry voice.
"God, everytime he talks I wanna cut my ears off with a spoon"
   "Chris stop," Mark warns.
"Or what?" He challenges. He is quickly pushed away by Mark.
"Seriously, get the fucking stick out of your ass and calm down,"

Mark's POV

Chris was really starting to grind my gears. Ethan had a rough past two nights and I could tell he was tired. He may not have known, but after Kendall left I heard him sobbing his little heart out. I didn't want to involve myself in something that wasnt my business, so I let it go and went to bed. Last night was my fault, and I kind of felt bad. Scratch that, I felt awful.
   "Look, I know I'm a dick... but I'm sorry" I apologize.
"You cant just hate me one second, and act nice to me the next," he frowns.
   "Wha-"
"Suprised your weak apology didn't work?" He raises an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed.
"I hate that word. You can't just sweep it under the rug and pretend it never happened."
I stand still not knowing how to reply.
"You dont get everything you want in life, not everyone will fall at your feet and worship you like some god." I can tell he is angry, but not just at me. It seems like there is more to it. I hate to admit but I was lost for words. He was right, sorry worked on all the other shallow people that surrounded me. He wasnt like that. I notice his expression change from angry to terrified at the speed of light. The next thing I know, he was gone.

Ethan's POV

It felt good to shut up Mark's Ego I'll admit. Just as he seemed to find his words the door to the coffee shop signaled someone's entrance. A rush of anxiety washed over me as I ran to the bathroom. It only took a glimpse of the mans face for all the memories to come rushing back. His hands, his eyes, his mouth, his voice. I felt disgusting. I hear the door open and hold my breath, hoping whoever it may be would go away.
   "Ethan?"
Of course its Mark. I know what he is doing. He cant stand that someone doesn't bow before him at the crack of his voice. Like the true douche he was he would take advantage of me at my weakest and make me one of his followers. He is no different than Dakota. But I'm smarter than that.
   "Go away!"
   "But-"
   "LEAVE, MARK!"
   "What happened?"
"For the love of God, I'll explain to you later, just leave. Me. The. FUCK. alone!"
With that, the door shuts and I slam my head against the stall door.
