Ethan's POV

I don't think I have ever been more nervous in my life. Well... that's a lie, but whatever. At this very moment I was walking into the next four years of my life. College. New friends. New enemies. New lovers. New life. A fresh start. I walked the buzzing hallway with my good friend Finley who I have know only since freshman year of highschool. His dorm was two stories down from mine and we figured we would simply stick together for the first day of our new journey. We had just finished unpacking his belongings into his room and meeting his super sweet roommate Elizabeth. Oh, I forgot to mention the part most people are terrified about. Gender neutral housing. But I'm gay so I'd much rather be roomed with a girl,  with co-ed rooms I had a higher chance of that happening. I turn the key and swing open the oddly wide door. I can tell immediately that I am not the first one to have been here. I walk to the bed and throw my suitcase to the side before plopping onto the bed. Shortly after I am joined by Finley.
"This is gonna be crazy, dude..." He stares at the popcorn ceiling.
   "It sure is."
   "So much is gonna happen."
I sigh in response not knowing whether the future was promising or something to fear. My time to think of the endless possibilities is cut short by a sharp voice.
   "Sorry to interrupt lovebirds"
"Oh, fuck off" I say shooting up fully expecting to see Avery standing in the door frame.
"Well that's one way to make a first impression," the stranger chuckles
The man is an average height, maybe slightly taller than me. He had deep black hair that flopped onto his forehead messily. His eyes were bright and youthful. They reminded me of fall, the earthy hues made them feel homey and welcoming.
"Anyways... I suppose one of you is my roommate. Be a shame if it was Mr. Sunshine over here," he giggled at his own joke.
"Well sorry to burst your bubble hot stuff, but it is!" Finley joked.
   "Great..." he replied unenthusiastically.
"Well Darren and I are hanging out here, so if yall dont mind..."
"Wonderful, I can already tell I'm fucked." I roll my eyes standing up.
"Let's go find everyone else." I tell Finley.
We leave the room in search of the rest of our friend group.
"Glad I got roomed with an asshole," I sigh.
"You are always welcome to come to my dorm, Emily doesn't seem like the type that would mind."
"I might just have to take you up on that cause I dont know how long I can last with big ego McGee."
Finley laughs at the nickname, "it will surely be deflated sooner or later."
