Chapter 1 Change

Jennifer's POV (Point of view)
"Beep beep beep!" I hear my alarm clock ring. I slowly get out of bed and look out the window. "Looks like another rainy day in Vancouver," I say to myself. I have been filming in Vancouver for 3 years now, but I still cannot get used to the cold weather.
"Ring ring ring" I wonder who is calling me? I quickly look at the call display "Colin". I wonder why he is calling. We don't need to be on set until 2 hours from now. "Colin What do u want?" I say coldly. "Someone is a little grumpy today!" I hear him say sarcastically. "Sorry Colin," I try to say sympathetically. "So I was wondering if you wanted to go to Starbucks with me before we are needed on set?"
"Umm... sure I will drive." I say energetic. Colin always knows how to cheer me up. "Jen it's poring rain outside I think I should drive," I hear him argue. "Okay fine," I say giving in. "What time will you be picking me up?" I ask. "How about in 20 minutes?" I hear him suggest. "Colin I need more than 20 minutes to get ready."
"25?"
"30, Please Colin?"
"Fine," I hear him finally give in. "Okay see you then," I say, and then I hang up the phone.
I quickly get changed and cook myself breakfast. I look at my watch 6:00am Colin should be here by now. As soon as I think that I hear a knock on the door. "Hey Colin!" I say cheerfully.
"Are you ready?"
"Yup."
I quickly get into his car as I know that we are are running out of time, and I really need a Starbucks coffee. "So what's new?" I ask Colin attempting to make small talk. "Ummm... Helen and I are getting a divorce."

Alarmed by the news I manage to get out "really, why?" I try to ask calmly. Colin and Helen have been together since high school. I wonder what happened. "It just wasn't working out anymore, to be honest I feel really bad because I have been away for so long..." I hear him say sadly. "Oh Colin, don't blame yourself, I try to say emphatically. "I've been through this too Colin, remember Jesse? I blamed myself over and over again I swore that it was my fault, but I eventually realized that I had to move on."
"Thanks Jen, I know I can always count on you for support. Jen, one more thing please don't tell anyone about this, okay?"
"Sure ,no problem!" I reply back.
I can't believe it! I wonder why they are getting a divorce. Colin doesn't want me to say anything to the cast about it either. Something is really wrong. "Colin are you okay, like with the divorce ?" I ask. "Jen to be honest it hasn't been working out for quite some time now, we both know that the love just isn't there anymore."
"I'am so sorry."
"The only thing I am scared about is Evan."
"Oh, is Helen asking for custody?"
"No, but I just don't want Evan having to grow up with having to go back and forth between Helen and I."
"Are you going to give her custody?"
"I don't know yet, if I do I feel like a bad farther."
"Colin if you think that giving Helen custody is what's best for Evan then do it. It's like Charming and Snow they gave up Emma to give her her best chance. I'm sure when Evan grows up he will under stand," I say adding references for "Once Upon a Time,"
"Thanks for the talk Jen I really appreciate it." I really hope I helped Colin out. He is my best friend and I don't want him to go through this alone.

Colin POV
"Colin?" I hear Helen say through the phone. "Hey Helen, everything okay?"
"Colin... I miss you, Evan misses you too," I can tell she is telling the truth, but I don't think we can truly be in love again. "Helen I know you do, but please just sign the Divorce paper." I try to say as nicely as I can. "Colin how long has it been? When did you stop loving me?"
"Helen-"
"You know I knew you liked her. Right?"
"Helen please, just sign the papers."
"Do you know what, I love someone else too."
"Wait, what?" I manage to get out.
"It's not just you that is in love with someone else, I am too,"
"Helen please don't joke around,"
"You wish I was joking. Colin I actually am I love with someone else."
"Okay, then sign the papers Helen. You know I know that you haven't signed them yet." I can hear her moving around in the background of the phone."
"Alright Colin I will sign them right now."
"Thanks!" I say back.
Even thought Helen and I aren't together anymore I hope we can work it out, and still be friends.
