NATALIE'S POV
Grrr…… My stomach rumbled as I stomped to my room. Yes of course, I hadn’ had breakfast and had run a mile or two, so why shouldn’t it rumbled.
I entered my room and pulled out a granola bar from my bag. I hungrily munched it down and angrily threw the wrapper on my bed. I had a million thoughts running through my mind, it was clogged with questions and I needed answers. I picked up my phone and furiously dialed Matt’s number.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
“Hello.”
“Hey Matt, I needed to ask you something.” I said urgently.
“Oh! Yeah sure Natalie go ahead. I really wasn’t expecting you to call me so soon……. you know…. after the-”
“Did you pick out my courses for freshman’s year?” I interrupted.
I couldn’t bear it when anyone mentioned my parent’s deaths. No one had witnessed their deaths but me. I still have nightmares about it every night and to bring up that specific topic was nothing but stupidity and witlessness, lack of emotion.
“No I didn’t pick out your courses Mr. Miller had already done that part for me.” He said.
“Alright then, thanks that’s all I needed to know. Bye.” I said.
“Take care of yourself Natalie. Bye.” He said.
I was about to dial Mr. Miller’s number when I heard a knock on the door.
“Yes.” I said as someone twisted the door knob and entered the room.
A very strict-looking woman stood before me. She was probably in her early forties, she glared at me through her spectacles.
Sure she had snow on the roof, but her bright blue eyes burned through mine. Her stare was tantalizing; she was looking mad.
“May I help you?” I asked.
“Girl what’s your name?” She asked sternly.
“Natalie… Natalie Astor.” I felt as if I were paralyzed by her glare.
“Aren’t you supposed to be in class right now Natalie.” She said emphasizing on ‘Natalie’. I don’t know why but that made me shudder.
“Oh! Um..” I stole a quick glance at the wall clock.
9.30 a.m.
Oh crap. I was so caught up in the whole schedule thing that I’d totally forgotten all about the stupid boxing class I had to attend.
“Well?”
“I’m so sorry. I forgot.” I said confused.
Oh great! way to go Natalie what a reasonable explanation.
