Lostkit's Prophecy (incomplete)

Chapter 4: The Med Cat's Den

At sun-high, Lostpaw's warrior training began. 'Now.' said Raccoonpelt,'To truly serve your clan, you need to know how to hunt, and hunt well. If your hunting is good enough, you can come to the Gathering at the Stardome. Go!' 

Lostpaw darted off, with Raccoonpelt at his heels. At last, he found a squirrel. He lowered his body into hunting position. The squirrel began to eat an acorn. Lostpaw sprung like his life was at risk. 

The squirrel saw him, darted away and Lostpaw's head banged into a tree. He saw Raccoonpelt's half worried-half disappointed face above him, then everything went black.

Lostpaw woke up in the medicine cat's den. 'Urrr...' he said. Mistypool and Frogleap were working with some herbs 'So... comfrey?' Mistypool enquired. Frogleap nodded. 

'Oh, Lostpaw! You're awake!' Before Lostpaw could respond, Mistypool shoved some herbs into his mouth. 'Mistypool, give him a nip on the back.' said Frogleap. She obeyed. 'Ow! What was that for?' Lostpaw enquired. 'To see if your bone's broken. Luckily, it's not. Mistypool, go find some more chervil, please. And put any deathberries down the gorge.' 'On it!'

Lostpaw took a little time to look around him. The hollowed out cave was full of stacks of herbs and other remedies. There were scratches on the walls. Frogleap suddenly said, 'A medicine cat... Lizardheart... was attacked. He was cornered and killed at that very wall.' Lostpaw's stomach churned. He looked closer and saw a red smudge, then looked away. 'Lostpaw, it's best for you to sleep now.' said Frogleap. He gave Lostpaw some poppy seeds, then went outside to tell Waspstar the news.

 In his dream, he was running through the same forest. He looked around, and was startled to see a stalk of wheat on his back. The forest whispered, 'Stars shall fall, Stars shall fall.' Suddenly a lizard appeared on his back. An owl flew overhead. He came to a stop, and saw Glowheart. ' In the darkness, stars shall fall and the lost will get a second chance.' Glowheart said. Then the forest opened up and Lostpaw fell into the unknown.
