Kaede stood there in the field. Weraing all black and a summer hat that her beloved father had given her. She never wore that hat, Until the day he finally passed. It was a quiet and solum day. Surrounded by family and family friends looking upon the coffin of her father, She never felt such anger..Confusion and sadness, she thought she would never understand why her father had gone so soon.
At the podium spoke her mother, She never really got along with her never really was close to her. Growing up her mother was never really around the house and would always disappear she never understood that either. She snapped her head up to see her mother begin to tear up wiping her eyes with her black throw. Why did she always have to make things about her.
"A-and I just pray that whoever killed my husband gets the justice they deserve"
Kaede stared at her mother as she was escorted off the podium by one of the family friends.
Kaede was next to speak, She inhaled deeply and got up slowly and walked over almost in slow motion as she approached her fathers coffin. She inhaled deeply and felt her world go blank as she held the ends of the podium and began to speak, Her mind not thinking.

-The day of the murder-

Kaede has just gotten out of college classes. She was happy she finally aced her test.
"Heh! Yes finally!!! After so much studying!!!"
She hummed to herself as she left college campus and plugged her headphones in walking along.
Suddenly she felt a buzz in her pocket as the caller ID was a number she had never seen before.
"Hm...odd.." she thought as she hung up her phone.
Kaede was about to turn the block until she halted in her tracks to hear loud sirens from an ambulance and loud flashes.
"H-huh..."
Kaedes heart dropped as she raced around the block only to be met with her house being the one with caution tape and crime scene tape around the perimeter, It almost looked like a movie. She halted as tears rushed to her eyes and everything went blurry, She was so scared to ask what happened until a young male approached her.
"Your Ms.Akamatsu...!"
The young man wore a black button up and had his sleeves rolled up as he wore blue throw away gloves and held a small camera in one hand his dark hair slightly parted.
"I'm detective Saihara, I-I don't know what better way to say this..Your father..he was...murdered"
Kaede put a hand over her mouth and let the tears roll down her cheeks not saying anything as she zoned out into the crime scene.

-Present-
All she remembered after his death was spending the night with her mother in the detectives office her mother doing all the talking.
After speaking at the podium she slowly walked away, sitting back down as everyone sat up to leave talking and shaking hands and saying ever so quietly "sorry for your loss"
There was no way that Kaede was going to let her fathers death go unsolved.

After the funeral Kaede walked a few blocks down the street to a small brick building that said "Detectives and Lawyers of law" She inhaled deeply turning the knob to open the door to be met with a small waiting room with one of the police officers behind the glass.
"Hello miss what can I do for you."
He looked at her almost in confusion to see her dark attire.
"So-Sorry I just got back from a funeral..I was wondering if their are any detectives right now I could speak with..if not I don't mind making an appointment..."
The police officer went back to the computer.
"Hmm lemme just check real quick for ya.."
He clicked his tongue a few times and clicked on a few things on the computer. Kaede looked around the room waiting patiently and looked at the magazine covers from afar.
"We currently don't have any big detectives on duty but we do have a trainee who is open to new clients currently, Although he is working a little on another case I'm sure it won't hurt to throw on another ahah!"
Kaede softly nodded.
"Yes please, I just need anyone."
The policeman grabbed the phone from the desk and dialed an extension number.
"Yes hello.. I have a possible Client here who wishes to speak with you!.....Yes.....Mhm...okay perfect I'll let her know..Bye"
He placed the phone back and nodded motioning towards the seats.
"He will be right with you he just needs to finish up.
Kaede nodded politely.
"Thank you so much for your assistance"
Kaede kept her head low taking a seat in one of the hard waiting room chairs, She fiddled with her thumbs and looked down at her feet slowly closing her eyes..It just wasn't fair..
She snapped back up to hear a door creak open as a familiar face met hers, It was the detective that first spoke to her at the scene of the crime. She stood up quickly almost toppling over.
"O-oh!! Hello again!!"
She gave him a small wave and a weak smile.
Shuichi knew all to well that look, She was trying her hardest not to break down. It was at that moment he realized that he wanted nothing more than to help this young beautiful woman with her fathers murder and he wouldn't stop until he saw her broken smile fixed again.
"Oh hello Ms.Akamatsu right this way."
He moved out of the doorway to allow her to pass through, He was shocked she was still in her funeral attire, Did she come right after?
Kaede walked by as Shuichi pointed to a opened room.
"My office is right here if you wanna take a seat."
Kaede walked quietly into the small room and took a seat in one of the chairs looking at his desk. Lots of pictures of his family and diplomas hanging on the wall.
"Funny you came here cause I was actually working on your case!" He smiled to her hoping that it would make her feel better or give her peace of mind that he was working on her case for her. She looked up at him with wondering eyes.
"Really...y-you where.
Shuichi nodded and slid over some papers that he had written for the case. It was a lot of government like language so she wasn't really sure how to put it into her words.
"Well I am grateful...I actually came over to ask you...Can I please help you in solving this case...!"
She closed her eyes tightly and looked away waiting for a "No"
Shuichi had never heard a case like this before and was baffling to hear this woman say to him she wanted to help. He sat up in his chair and sighed softly running a hand through his dark hair and smiled a little.
"Yeah..! Of course you can!"
The only thing he was worried about was her being heartbroken from the results..
Kaede leaped over from her chair reaching over to grab his hands and clasped them in his.
"Thank you Mr.Saihara...! Together we will get through this!"
He felt the heat rise in his cheeks as he smiled brokenly his face breaking out in a red blush.
"H-heh..of-Of course Ms.Akamatsu..."
He wasn't sure why he did it but he did. He softly placed his lips to her hand and held it back softly and looked up at her his face red.
"I-I promise you we will find them..."
It was then he knew he wouldn't sleep and wouldn't stop until he found the killer.
Kaede looked at him back feeling the heat rise to her face now.
"T-thank you.."

Weeks passed as the two of them went through all the possible clues and questions that they could ask and find..Kaede found herself getting closer to Shuichi and also found comfort in him...Lately Kaede had been staying at his place for the long nights of investigating, Sleeping in his bed while he took the couch or pulled an all nighter sitting at his desk writing and going over the crime scene again and again. The bags under his eyes got more and more visible.

It was a late night and all she could hear from the other room was Shuichi typing away on the computer. Kaede slowly got out of bed and walked into the other room creaking the door open slowly.
"S-Shuichi..."
She rubbed her eyes and looked at him as he slowly turned in his chair and looked at her.
"Kaede....I-I figured it out...."
He grabbed a few papers and stood up slowly handing them to her.
Kaede was a little out of it and skimmed the paperwork and looked at the weapon at the scene of the crime that was finally found...And the DNA testing that was done...It was her mother...

Kaedes grip loosened on the papers as she dropped them all as they went flying all over the floor almost moving slowly to her...First her father dead now her mother...Dead to her..Shuichi got up the quickest she's seen in weeks as he quickly wrapped her in a hug holding her to him as he heard her softly sob into him. He rubbed her back softly cooing her.
"Shhh...I know...I know..."
He had never felt so hurt for someone else before and never so heartbroken to say the least...
"T-thank you!!!! Thank you!!!"
Kaede wailed out as he stood there holding her in the darkness of his office the computer light illuminating the messy room of papers and books. Despite all that happened to her she stood strong and smiled.
Shuichi pulled away a little to stare at her in the silence of the room.
"Your welcome...."
He started to get closer to her. Causing her to close her tears eyes as she squinted softly. It almost like his body wasn't moving at this point and it moved on instinct...He ran his thumb over her lips staring at her his cheeks red along with hers. He ran his thumb down her cheek next pressing her chin up to meet his lips with hers. All he wanted to do was make her feel secured and loved, Nothing more...
Kaede let the kiss happen, it's what she wanted for awhile, to feel his lips on hers.

The rest of the night went over their heads. All she relented was the kiss ending and Shuichi telling her that the rest of the night was theirs to enjoy. He set up a movie for them and made some leftover TV dinners and promised her she had a place to stay when her mother got taken away. The night ended with her falling asleep on him, it was the best nights sleep that she had in weeks....

After court and everything her mother was accused of her fathers death and found guilty. Afterwards Kaede considered her mom dead to her...She watched Shuichi fight for her in court and was on his side for it the entire time..All of their hard work was put into effect and she couldn't of been prouder..
After everyone left and her mom was taken away screaming she walked over to Shuichi and smiled.
"Wanna go get some coffee...?"
He nodded softly.
"Yeah sure lemme pack you my things and we will get going alright?"
He quickly packed up his things and walked out of the courtroom with her staying close by.

The walk was quiet per usual..But the coffee was anything but quiet..It started with a simple Thank you and ended with an;
"I think I love you" followed by "Heh...I love you too Kaede"
