(For this one-shot, your name is set as Freya <3)
*PART ONE OF TWO*
"Amanda, just because it's your birthday doesn't mean you have to ruin her party," you whispered to your younger sister, who had just thrown a chair across the backyard of her school friend's backyard. Amanda's friend Lacy White was having a princess-themed birthday party and it just so happened to be on Amanda's actual birthday, meaning all the kids from their public school were there and could not attend Amanda's party your mother had planned. And since you had no other plans, you were forced to attend Lacy's party to supervise Amanda. "We're happy for Lacy, were enjoying ourselves, please, please just go back out there and enjoy the party with Lacy. The cake is soon, so are presents, so until then just behave?"
Amanda was firm, she shook her head no and tilted her head upwards, as to assert superiority. But she was ten years old, and you were nineteen. "I will not stand by and watch Lacy get all the presents and candy on my birthday! It isn't fair, Freya!" she whined, folding her arms.
You sighed. Amanda, being the youngest, always got her way, meaning when it came to situations where she couldn't possibly have her way, she didn't handle it so well. "Amanda, please. Your party is rescheduled for next weekend, I think you can enjoy this one."
"Mine was princess themed too! Now I have to change it to a spa birthday and I can't even wear this dress because I already wore it to this party!"
You were about to speak up when a voice interrupted, "I think you look spectacular."
Both your head and Amanda's perked up to find a boy, about your age or older standing with his hands behind his back. He had curly dark hair and eyes you couldn't quite tell the colour of in the shadow where you stood. He looked friendly, polite, just as he sounded.
"Hi, I'm Timothee, nice to meet you," he bent down a bit for Amanda and extended his hand. "I used to babysit Lacy's older sister Erica when she was young, what's your name?"
Amanda looked hesitant, and this was the exact moment you knew who he was. You covered your mouth in disbelief. This was Timothee Chalamet, the actor, but you didn't quite find it in yourself to scream or cry as you really weren't his biggest fan. You had seen Hot Summer Nights and Interstellar, but that was about it. You were surprised enough he was here, but you knew why. As he chatted with Amanda, she seemed to be calming down.
"So you're upset because today is your birthday and you're spending it celebrating Lacy's..." Timothee said, nodding. Amanda nodded back shyly- she obviously found him attractive as she blushed with intensity seen even under the shadow of the house in the high afternoon. "You're reasonably upset, entirely understand. So, why don't you stick with me? I'm a pretty cool guy, I think. One second, let me ask your sister," He chuckled, his eyes then looking at you, "Is it okay if I hang out with Amanda for a bit?"
Your mind wasn't quite grasping how he was real, here, of all places. "Yes, of course, just... promise to return her after?"
"I will," he grinned at me and I smiled right back. I didn't mean to, his smile was just... contagious and unavoidable. You tucked your hair behind your ears and watched as Amanda took his hand and together they walked off to enjoy the party while you sat down in a lawn chair and decided to finish editing your work for a project of your own on the laptop you had brought due to a library study you had planned for afterwards.
----
When the party began to die down and children were leaving, Timothee returned to you with a glowing Amanda. You began to thank him profusely and he stopped you. "It's okay, really, I had a good time with her."
Amanda ran off to play with Lacy, with whom you guessed she was no longer angry with for stealing her birthday, leaving you alone with him. He smiled, and again, you couldn't help but smile back. There was silence for a few seconds, but he spoke up again, "I don't think I caught your name?"
"Oh, hi, I'm Freya," you replied, shaking his hand. His smile widened at your friendliness and he nodded. "You are... Timothee Chalamet."
"Yes," he laughed, "I'm surprised I was recognized. Linda, Lacy's mom, kept introducing me as an actor to the other guests and I'm pretty sure their minds went to improv... I'm not recognized so often. It's nice to meet you, Freya."
You laughed, "Nice to meet you too. Also, I find it quite shocking you aren't recognized more often. I think you deserve to be recognized and followed around, you're extremely talented from what I've seen."
He chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck, the smile never wavering from his face. "Thank you so much, that means a lot, actually."
"My pleasure," you replied. "Unrelated, I really like your hair."
He covered his face with his hands for a moment and you could see he was hiding his widening smile. He uncovered it only a moment later, his hands still shyly placed on his jaw. "Thank you," he laughed, "again... What's that you're working on?" He then pointed to your open laptop that displayed your novel.
"Oh, well, I'm trying to write a book. I'm actually just dropping Amanda off at home and heading to the library to keep working on it- it's quiet there." You explained as if he was a friend you had known for a while and the words came with ease. He was easy to talk to.
"Would you mind if I joined you?"
The words came out of his mouth and you felt them spring blood to your cheeks. He was asking to join you at the library. Timothee Chalamet, the actor, was asking to join YOU at a library? He watched you think it over, his hands behind his back and rocking on his heels.
"No, of course," You grinned, "Just... let me drop Amanda off at home?"
