Jayda's POV
I came back inside the trailer from checking on Hot Dog the next morning. And, see that my dad and Jughead are both awake.
"So, how's Hot Dog?" Dad asked me.
"Sleeping under the trailer, but he's bouncing back." I answered.
"Yeah? How are you?" He asked. I sighed. "Uneasy sits the crown." Dad pushed out a chair for me to sit on.
"Well..." I responded, and took the seat. "Penny's got the Northside in her sights. Cheryl's a loose cannon. Betty is a target, and, uh... We're not even the Southside Serpents anymore."
"Screw the Southside." Dad replied. "You're a Serpent, both of you, by blood. And no one can take it from you two, or any one of us." I smiled at him, and then we heard a car horn.
"That must be Archie. Jay, are you coming with us?" Jughead asked me.
"And be a fifth wheel? I'm good. That's Fangs' job." I told him, making Dad and him laugh. "I have plans anyway."
"Doing what?" Jughead asked.
"It's a Serpent tradition. You'd be invited, but you're busy with Archie." I answered.
It's something that we've been doing for years. We'd honor the new teenage recruits for the past year, with a big end of summer party, down at the beach.
This year, we were honoring Cheryl for joining. It would also be Jughead, Betty and Archie, but obviously, they're all busy.
I went back into my room, and changed into a swimsuit for our beach trip. It was a black bikini, like yesterday, and then I put a loose t-shirt over it, and a pair of shorts.
I came out of my room, just as there was a knock on the front door. I went over to answer it, and before I could get a good look of who it was, he swung me over his shoulder.
"Sweet Pea! Put me down!" I yelled, and punched his back.
"No can do, princess." He responded.
"Technically, I'm not a princess, I'm a queen." I argued. I couldn't see his face, but I could tell he was rolling his eyes.
"Put me down!" I repeated. Eventually he put me down onto the back of his bike, and all the teenage Serpents were waiting for me too.
"Come on, let's go!" I exclaimed.
-----
We soon arrived at the beach, where it was packed, and then they saw that we were Serpents, and soon vacated.
When we got there, we all changed into our swimsuits. As I took off my shirt and shorts, I grabbed the attention of a couple of teenagers who were yet to leave the beach.
They wolf-whistled, earning a glare from Sweet Pea. He's cute when he's jealous. He then picked me up, and smashed his lips onto mine, claiming to the boys that I was his.
And later, the party was in full swing. Music was blaring, everyone had a drink in their hand, and Fangs was being his usual fifth wheel self.
It was nice having all my best friends together for a while, since we'd spent the summer apart. Fangs had gone for half of it to visit his relatives in Georgia, and Toni and Cheryl had gone on their road trip.
Sweet Pea and I had gone on a little road trip during the summer, for about two weeks, which was the longest my dad would agree to.
About five drinks later for me, I had gone way past sober.
"We should dive off the cliff." Crash floated the idea. We'd do every year, but not this drunk.
"Yeah!" I cheered. We headed up the cliff, and soon we were by the edge.
Everyone else jumped off, and I was left at the top with Sweet Pea, Fangs, Toni and Cheryl.
"Come on, Cherry. It's tradition." I told her. Saying that she looked nervous was an understatement. She looked beyond terrified.
"I'll do it with you." Toni said to her girlfriend. Cheryl nodded, and they stood at the edge of the cliff. They jump off together, and their screams her loud in our ears.
Next it's my turn. I glanced over the edge.
"You okay?" Sweet Pea asked me. I give a slight nod, but that's it.
"It's just a lot higher than I remember it." I admitted. I bite my lip, and look down into the water. It's very high.
"You don't have to if you don't want to." Sweet Pea told me.
"Well, I am." Fangs said, and ran past us, jumping off of the cliff. We heard cheers from the Serpents, and then the sound of Fang hitting the water.
Sweet Pea took a hold of my hand. I looked at him.
"Come on, we can go if you want." He said to me.
"I'm fine." I reassured him, and myself. Then, I took a step closer to the edge, and my clumsy, drunken ass tripped over the edge, and fell down.
I heard Sweet Pea yell after me, and follow me down. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, until, it was.
I plummeted into the water, and hit my forehead on a rock at the bottom. And, the last thing I remember before blacking out, was Sweet Pea landing in the water near me.

Sweet Pea's POV
As I dived into the water, I saw her lifeless body, and I panicked. I swam down, and carried her to the surface. I held her in my arms, and walked over to the shore.
All the Serpents were cheering, until they saw that I was carrying her body. There was a gash on the top of her forehead that was bleeding.
"Someone call an ambulance." I shouted. I ran her over to one of the picnic tables, and lied her on top of it. Toni was on the phone to the ambulance, and the Serpents had gathered around the table.
Fangs started to put pressure on her wound, because it was really bad. I put my ear to her mouth, to check if she was breathing. She wasn't.
"You're going to have to do CPR, and mouth-to-mouth." Cheryl told me.
"I'll do it." Crash volunteered. I ignored him, and started doing it myself. I tried it a few times, and it still didn't work.
"Come on." I said, as I tried again. I couldn't lose her again. I couldn't.
"Come on." I repeated, louder. Eventually, she spluttered up water, and I sighed in relief. We heard sirens of the ambulance, and I knew, she was going to be okay.
