---Kim's POV---

After lying awake for nearly the whole night, I still wasn't so sure if I wanted to become a werewolf. Don't get me wrong, the thought alone was very appealing but I still felt as if I was giving up on my current life.

And if I admitted it to myself, the fear of staying blind was gnawing at my confidence. What if I gained my eyesight, only for a moment and then have it taken away? Or if I remained blind? I'd be the first-ever blind werewolf...

My fingertips followed the smooth line on the canvas before I placed my brush next to it and carefully filled the spot with the dark brown paint. I had been working on my paintings while I pondered over what to do and so far, I haven't made any progress on deciding if I should pick werewolf over human.

I chuckled when I felt someone breathing down my neck and I knew that from hearing him or her coming upstairs, that it wasn't Will. "Whoever it is, you're literally breathing down my neck." I said half-joking, keeping my attention to my nearly finished artwork of Will's face.

Karen chuckled beside me before the telltale dip of the seat told me she sat down beside me. "Sorry sis. I was just curious how you can paint while you're blind. No offense." She added worriedly, making me shake my head lightly.

"It's simple really. I memorize the object I'm going to paint and sketch that down, each different shade marked by a line." I said, tracing lines on the canvas where Will's cheek was drawn to show her what I meant. "For the paints, I simply touch them; each paint and each color have a different texture and thickness."

"Don't you miss being able to see?" I remained silent at that question and swallowed for a moment, remembering how it was to see, to actually see the colors in my life, to look at my friends while I'm talking to them. All of that was taken for granted until it was forcefully taken away from me.

Karen was silent for a moment before I felt her eyes scanning my expression. "What's wrong Kim? You look worried." I smiled sadly and shook my head." It's nothing, I'm just thinking."

She shuffled on her seat. "What are you thinking about then?" she asked when the silence grew longer after she waited for me to elaborate. I gave up trying to ignore the way her gaze never wavered from my face with a tired sigh and turned to give her an answer.

"I'm just..." I thought about it for a moment before I shook my head, reforming the sentence. "Did Ivan ever mention a Bite?" I asked slowly, hoping that I wasn't breaking some pack law or something.

Karen shuffled slightly before she scooted closer. "You're worried about turning and staying blind, aren't you?" There it was, out in the open. I nodded slowly and scowled when Karen slapped the back of my head.

"Hey!"

She huffed and shook her own, her hair slapping in my face as she did so. "I can't understand you sometimes Kimberly. You always sound so wise for your age, as if there's an old soul trapped in a young body but when it comes to things that you shouldn't second-guess, you do just that."

A frown slipped on my face as I looked down at where my feet were. Meanwhile, I listened to Karen as she hugged me sideways and gently pecked my cheek. "You know sis, this reminds me of a movie I've recently seen. You're too focused on the 'what if'. They said something about that in the movie."

"Oh?" I asked, pushing my hair aside as I glanced in her general direction. "Let's hear it than." I chuckled as Karen sat up straight and cleared her throat.

"'What' and 'If' are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life." She paused for a moment, letting the words sink in before she nudged me.
