NEW RELATIONSHIPS

(ELIJAH, 16)

~Chanel's POV~
After lunch, I say later to Jasmine and head to 4th period; AP Biology. De walks in and sits in the seat next to me at the table. "Where were you," I ask De. The teacher still isn't in the class.

"I was buying my best friend a new car," he jokes. DeVonte stop playing with me," I say sternly.

"Girl go on somewhere acting like somebody momma," he laughs. I eye him.

"Okay, I went to Chick-fil-A with Chris to-," he starts but I cut him off, "and you went to Chick-fil-A without me. That's two strikes Mr. Brown," I finish. He playfully rolls his eyes and before he could say something, Elijah comes over to our table.

"Hey, is this seat taken?," Elijah asks. "Ye-," De starts, "No," I cut him off. Elijah smiles and sits down in front of me. I see De roll his eyes from my peripheral vision. "OMG, he's so fine," I think to myself.

I feel a nudge to my elbow and I turn to De. He gives me a look that says the teacher's here, pay attention. "Hello class, my name is Ms. Taylor and I'll be your biology teacher this year...," she tells us about the expectations for this class.

We finish up class for the day and before we exit, Elijah says, "I'll call you later. I need to tell you something." "Okay," I reply, smiling.

"Better be blushing, don't break your face," De says, bringing me out of my thoughts. I roll my eyes and we walk out of the class together. I honestly do love my best friend because he walks me to my class before he leaves for his class.

"I'll catch you later, Chanel," he says. I say later to him and walk into my 5th period. "Did he just call me by my full name. WTH," I think to myself before the teacher starts talking.

Sadly, none of my close friends are in this class so this class is going to be long. After a few, 5th period is over and it's finally time to go to my last class of the day; AP Social Studies Government. Luckily, all 4 of us are in this class including Amiya. OMG, Jasmine and I can't stand her. She walk around thinking she the s*** because she's rich.

Jasmine, Chris, De, and I sit in a row of desk towards the back. There are two more empty desks in our row and Amiya sits in the last one on the right, next to Chris and Jayla sits in the last one on the left, next to De. Jasmine and I are in the middle; Jas next to Chris and I'm next to De.

Jas and I give each other a look; this is our way of nonverbal communication about Amiya. We finish up 6th period and the bell rings. I say later to Jasmine because she's getting in her car to go home but Chris is riding with De and I because he took the bus this morning. "So, Chanel ... got a boyfriend?," Chris asks me from the back seat and I turn around to eye him.

"No, stay yo' a** back there and worry 'bout getting Jasmine before my life. Thank you very much," I say to him and I hear De choke out a laugh and I turn to eye him. "Something funny?," I ask him. "No ma'am," he laughs.

They drop me off first and I say later to them. "I'll see you tomorrow, Nel," De says as I walk to my front door. "Maaaa, I'm home," I yell and she replies telling me she's in her room. I head to my room and before I could put my school bag down, I get a call; Elijah.

*Phone conversation*
Me: Hey

Elijah: Hey beautiful

Me: What's up

Elijah: So ... how was your first day?
Me: It was ight I guess. What about yours?

Elijah: It was cool. I got two classes with you so I'm happy

Me: Boy stop you got me smiling like a fool over here

Elijah: That's what I'm tryna do. So imma just get to the point. I've like you since the end of 10th grade but I was taken and I'm a loyal boyfriend.

Me: *I roll my eyes. He cheated on two of his exes before* Okay

Him: So I'm saying I wanna be with you because I feel like you're the perfect girl for my life right now

Me: *I smile* Yes, I'll be your girl

Elijah and I talk for another 3 hours before I get up to take a shower and clean. "Well, I finally get the man that I want, let's see where this takes us," I think to myself and smile.
