I heard a crash and the sound of shattering glass, followed by screams and pounding feet. I stood alone and away from the disaster, wanting, no,

needing to help, but I couldn't. A glass wall stood between me and them. I could see people dying as our country was invaded, and I could see them

look to me for help, but the wall was solid.

"It's just glass, break through it!"I know some would say, but it wasn't "just glass".

It was a spell created by my mother made to protect me. With the combined power of my mother, father, two brothers, and three sisters the wall was

strong enough to withstand attacks from an entire army. When the invasion had first started my mother shoved me outside and told me to run, but I

didn't. I watched as my family created the wall, and the turned and joined the fight. One of my sisters went down quickly. She was the youngest, only

twelve, and would never live to see another day. My older brother went down next. He was seventeen and engaged to marry the Princess Evi of Elonia. I

stood stone still as I watched my second sister, 14 years old, give up fighting and start running towards me, but she didn't make it, and collapsed

inches from the glass wall. By now I was sobbing. I had lost three family members, and within minutes, my remaining brother and sister died as well.

I could see that my parents didn't know why they kept fighting, but my mother glanced over and saw me, and I knew that they wouldn't give up. Moments

later six men snuck up behind my parents and I screamed a warning to them. It was too late. The men grabbed my parents, the Queen and King of

Cresenthia and soon they were bound, gagged, and blindfolded. Every person still alive had heard my warning, and they all started towards me. The

wall was invisable, except in a few spots where it shimmered quietly and beautifully. They started towards it, and didn't use their thinking. I

appeared like a defensless petite girl. Why would I be standing outside screaming? The men ran towards me and hit the glass wall, rebounding

backwards to the other side of the room, a good 200 feet away. With that, I knew it was over and there was nothing I could do. I turned around and

ran into the forest, my silky white gown and black hair trailing behind me. My hair had been in an elegant bun for the ball, but now as I ran it was

loose, no trace of the bun left. I wasn't crying any more. It didn't help. I entered the forest and felt the drizzle of rain stop, cut off by the

dense branches of the trees.

"I love you."I murmured softly, and then I was out of Kieryn Castle's boundaries.
