Chapter 14

 Draco POV

I loved the feel of Alex's hand in mine as he pulled me into the hallway. The hall was dark, night had fallen in the time that we had been talking. I thought back to what had transpired in the room, how scared I was when I got there and how I loved that he was willing to forgive me after all those years of hate. I watched as Alex led me straight to where his father was and I was in awe of him. We arrived at the sitting room and sat in a vacated loveseat. Alex sat on my lap and cuddled into me. I smiled, content with how he was seated on me. I looked up at the others in the room, rolled my eyes at their goofy looks, and then continued to cuddle Alex. Alex started to purr as I idally scratched the base of his wings. Sev let out a small chuckle before he started talking to Alex. "Flower," He started, pausing so he knew Alex was focused. Alex stopped purring and acknowledged his dad, then went back to purring. With a smile he continued, "So the plan for tomorrow is that Miss Granger, Narcissa and I return to diagon alley to finish shopping and to get an Inheritance test and what not, while you and Draco stay here and get to know each other. As it would be a very bad idea to take you as unmated mates, mostly because Draco would end up killing anyone who looked at you the wrong way. Does that sound ok with you both?" Alex stopped purring and turned to look at my face, "Would you really do that, my Dragon?" Smiling at his nickname for me I replied, "Most likely, and it will still take me awhile even after we mate. It's because my vampire side will want to keep you close and to protect you, vampires are also known for not being willing to share their things. But my human side also doesn't like to share eather." Alex seemed happy that I would protect him with the small content noise he let out as he turned back to his dad. Uncle Sev smiled at us, "Miss Hermione is going to stay here for awhile, Alex, if you are ok with that?" Alex cocked his head curiously at his father and then at Hermione. "Sure," Alex started, "I mean I would have thought you would go back to your home but you're always welcome here, Hermione. Dad, why did you ask me that?" Uncle Sev's smile brightened, "That is because I love you and respect your feelings. If you hadn't wanted her here I would have made other arrangements for Hermione." Alex nodded at that and settled back into my lap. Nira had curled around Alex's neck and was just sitting, watching the other people. My mother and Uncle Sev were quietly talking in one corner with Hemione on the chair near the fire reading. Alex turned and looked at me. His emerald eyes bore into my silver ones. "Draco, why did Bubble ask if I wanted my room to suit two when I first arrived?" Alex asked me softly. Bringing my hand up I cupped his face, him leaning into it but still staring at me. "Let's go back to your room for this ok?" Confusion filled his face at my request but he nodded. I stood, cradling him to my body, him seeming content there. "Uncle Sev, Alex and I need to talk. Send a house elf to get us for dinner." Severus inclined his head towards us, acknowledging what I had said then returned to his conversation with my mother. As we were leaving the room Alex called softly to Hermione. She stood and made her way over to where I had paused near the doorway. " 'Mione, would you take Nira outside? She wants to explore and try to hunt. She says that she's ok with going with you." Hermione looked like she wanted to ask a million questions but kept quiet, silently holding out her arm for Nira. The small dragon paused to nuzzle Alex then gave me a hard stare. It seemed to say, Hurt him and I will end you. Letting out a small snort, Nira crawled onto Hermione's waiting arm. Having taken care of that I stepped out into the dark hall and began the trek to our new room.
