I hugged Atsushi tighter, closing my eyes in the process, but when I opened them again; I made a mistake.

I looked up to the guy who caused so much pain and suffering towards me. He stared down at the two of us on the ground as I looked at his features one by one again.

He was still so beautiful.

I looked at his clothing, it was a sand-colored trench coat now instead of his usual black trench coat. He still had those bandages around his arms, but when I looked up to his face; where he didn't have that bandage over his eye. His face had twisted into something like a scowl.

"What're you doing here, Dazai?" I sighed out eventually as I subconsciously hugged the slightly younger tighter. He looked over the river bank as he spoke, "suicide, obviously," he looked down at Atsushi, "it was going swimmingly if I do say so myself, then that kid appeared." He deadpanned.

Uh what?

This was not the Dazai I knew.

"D-did you just deadpan..?"

Before he could respond anymore, I felt Atsushi's stomach growl against mine.

"Oh, are you by chance, hungry?"

At that, Atsushi immediately jumped up from our sitting position as he stared at the guy tiredly.

"Well.. the truth is.. we haven't ate in several days.."

Then a loud growl filled the air, and it wasn't from Atsushi.

"How odd, guess I'm hungry too."

That perked Atsushi up, "how coincidental I-"

Dazai then picked out his trench coat pockets, "but it seems the river had taken my wallet." Immediately, that shut Atsushi up as he groaned again.

I laughed lightly when Atsushi blushed and came over to me. "Don't laugh! You should be hungry too, right?!"

I shook my head, "I'm not really hungry," Atsushi glared at me, "b-but if I had to, I would eat."

I looked up at Dazai from the ground and there was a look in his eyes that I could not decipher. The wind flied ideally behind him as the trench coat flowed smoothly in that flying wind. His hair flowed back too, as I took a deep look at his face. There wasn't any cuts or bandages, it was so clean. I wanted to say something before I was interrupted.

"THERE YOU ARE YOU TROUBLESOME BLOCKHEAD!!"

I looked over to my left out of confusion from the yelling. It was a man with glasses that had blonde hair tied into a medium length ponytail.

"Oh heyyy, Kunikida! You found me!"

I looked at him more closely as I can see he was crossing his arms with a book in his right hand.

"Nice work?! And who do you think caused all this work, you suicidal maniac! I've had enough of this, do you know how much you messed up my schedule with this?!!"

I'm confused, and when I stood up I almost immediately took Atsushi's hand. Indefinitely wanting to run away because I was not about to deal with this.

"Hey, I got a good idea! My colleague from work can treat you guys to a meal!"

I don't think that's a good id—

"HEY ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING?!?"

I turned around as I stared at Dazai, him seemingly not fazed at all by the blonde haired yeller across the river bank. I heard him and Atsushi talking, as I watched, I saw Dazai's eyes change. One moment he's looking at Atsushi with a confusing emotion in his eyes, and when he blinked, it changed. His eyes had turned towards me.

He had a straight face as he continued to stare at me with that same confusing emotion.

What is it Dazai? If you have something to say, then just tell me. I have nothing else to say to you, because I already told you the things I wanted to say to you years ago.

"What would you guys like to eat, anyways?"

I saw the glow in Atsushi's eyes as he started to speak. I found it cute how he would always has that glow in his eyes.

"W-well, if it's not too much to ask for," Dazai gave a look of questioning, "I would really like some tea on rice... what about you (F/N)..?" He looked expectantly at me, a cute look on his face of concern.

"Whatever you want Atsushi." I smile genuinely at the younger boy, in which his pale face slightly lit up in a pink shade.

"Very well! We'll have Kunikida treat you guys to 60 bowls of tea on rice!" I turnt my head towards the guy across the river bank as he taps his foot impatiently.

"Don't get all generous with MY money Dazai!!" He puts his hands on his hips in a childish manner as he glares at Dazai.

I could hear Atsushi's confusion as he heard the ever so older man's name.

"Dazai...?"

He looked at the boy with a questioning glance, "yep, that's me," he then glanced to me with a smirk, "what? (F/N) here didn't tell you about me? Wow, I'm hurt~"

You never considered me a friend, why would I tell my best friend about you?

I rolled my eyes as the thing from earlier happened again. It was like the wind was at his very will, and it flowed in every way that made Dazai look good. The sky made him look even nicer; his face showed one of mystery.

He was a mysterious person that I'll never understand.

I remembered now.

Right when he abandoned me, he looked like this.

Not the black trench coat suicidal, dark Dazai I knew with no purpose, but a Dazai where he truly wanted to be a good person.

Even though he will walk in the dark for all of eternity, never finding something to close that giant hole in him; at least he found out that he wanted to be good if it makes him a least bit better person.

But why did he abandoned me?
