I sat there in the chair of the traditional Japanese restaurant as I occasionally take bites of the tea on rice trying to ignore the fighting duo right in front of me.
I was trying to block out all the noise so that I could try to finish my meal as fast as possible so I could leave as fast as possible.
"—You mean he tried to kill himself before?"
Nonononono, Atsushi, what are you doing?! We were supposed to leave as fast as possible, so we can avoid and never see these guys ever again. We were supposed to use them for a free meal!!
I took in a breath as I should probably explain to him, let alone that crazy guy to explain everything.
"Yeah, it explains all those bandages on him," I glanced at his arms wrapped with the white lining, "in the past, he would try all the time and I had to save him each time." I got annoyed thinking of all the past times where he would whine about how he wanted to kill himself.
My flustered naïve ass always would be super fucking cheesy. "Ooh, Dazai senpai 👉👈, I don't want you to kill yourself though." Ugh what cringe.
"I never wanted you to save me!" He stood up as he whined like he did in the past. I rolled my eyes as I set the bowl down, already losing my appetite because of this conversation.
I glanced over to the blonde guy as his eyes looked at me with a questioning look that genuinely showed he was curious in me. "I'm (F/N) (L/N), I used to work with Dazai." I extend my right hand towards him, seeing him take it made me think that he seemed like a chill guy.
"Kunikida Doppo, I have to work with that suicidal dumbass everyday."
That's a nice name, also very unique. Some of the people with the names I meet probably have the most unique backgrounds.
"Yeah he's pretty annoying," we pulled our hands away as I glanced at the man in question, "I hated every day I worked with him."
He pouted crazily as he crossed his arms, "...well you still loved me," he whispered very softly to the point where no one heard.
"What was that you suicidal bastard?!"
I held my hands up to stop the fighting, but that's when Atsushi asked a question.
"So what do you guys do anyways?"
I didn't really care for the blabber talk, because I already knew what they were, and what they were apart of.
So I laid my head down and closed my ears.
(Honestly didn't want to write about their conversation lol)
The next time I woke up, it was Atsushi trying to run away from the restaurant, but Kunikida held him by the collar of his shirt.
I couldn't process what they were saying, then Atsushi was dropped upon the floor. He tried to crawl out as he had a look of full on terror in his heterochromatic eyes. Kunikida had his hand on his back as he tried to force answers out of him. I got out of my chair, kicking his hand off of Atsushi's back.
He had a clear look of confusion on his face as Atsushi tried to crawl away from us even faster.
"What are you guys talking about?" My voice was very firm as I tried protecting the boy I promised to always protect.
"Now now, (F/N)!" Dazai jumped out of his chair with a pout on his face, "we just want to know what Atsushi here knows about the tiger, don't get mad at Kunikida." He walks over to us as I looked down ever so slightly at him with a look of warning to my face.
At the mention of the tiger, I felt my skin prickle a bit. I knew Atsushi was the tiger, I never wanted to let him know though.
"So Atsushi, what do you know of this tiger?"
I started to zone out of the conversation when I thought about Atsushi more.
I remembered the time when the tiger attacked the orphanage, ravaging our chicken coups, etc. but I couldn't just sit there as he ravaged everything.
So I used my ability on him.
I met eyes with his beautiful yellow ones in his beast form under the breathtaking moonlit sky of the night.
I never wanted to use my ability again, especially not on the person I cared for most. The big white beast fell asleep on the ground as I walked up to him, sitting down next to him. I caress his soft fur underneath me as I lifted my head to the dark sky. I stared up at the beautiful stars that could only remind me of the Mafia days.
Even as the orphanage kicked out Atsushi the next days, I followed him. I couldn't leave him alone in that cold world out there.
So when Dazai brought up the tiger again, I thought they figured it all out. I was scared.
They won't take him away from me right?
I came back to reality as I saw Dazai showing Atsushi a check. What the hell dude.
"Atsushi, what did you agree to..?"
I saw him flustered as he tried to step away from me to avoid my gaze.
"N-nothing.."
I was gonna turn to Dazai for answers but instead, he came to me and grabbed my hand to pull me out of the small traditional restaurant. I groaned our as I knew something was going to happen.
"Attttssssuuuuuusshhhhhiiiiii...."
