"How come you have to go back?" Rowan asks. We were walking down the hallway hand in hand.
"We have to pick up some papers. I'll be quick" I say.
"Can I come?" She asks.
"It's not a good idea. I promise I'll be quick" I say
"Ok" She says and lets go of my hand.
She gives me a kiss on the cheek and I was on my way.
"Hey" I say when I meet up with Joey.
"Hey" She says.
We walk in and Lucas is sitting in the principals office.
"Hi girls. This is Lucas. I'm going to leave you guys to talk" The principal says and walks out
"Hi" Me and Joey both say to him.
"Ok let me guess. You two came to my talk. Did the first exercise and now you're stuck in an alternate universe and don't know how to leave" He says so casually.
Joey and I give him a blank stare.
"It happens a lot you'd be surprised" He says.
"I don't even know what to say" Joey says.
"Do you want to go home?" He asks.
"Yes" Joey says.
They both look at me.
"Um uh yeah I guess" I say.
But Rowan
"Sabrina you have to go home." Joey says.
"I know but I love her" I say.
"Love who?" Lucas asks.
"My ex girlfriend. We broke up about two months ago but in this universe we're dating" I say.
"Was that what you were thinking about when you switched worlds?" He asks
I nod.
"We'll thats why you're here right now. Most of the time when this happens it is driven by love." He says.
"Does this happen a lot?" Joey asks.
"It happens every four days." He says.
"Why four?" Joey asks.
"I do speakings every four days" He says.
"And this happens every time?" Joey asks.
"Yep" He says.
"Were we the only ones during that speech?" She asks.
Joey has so many questions.
"Yes it only happens to two people max" He says.
"That's kinda cruel" She says.
"No it's not" He says. "Sabrina have you learned something you wish you knew back in your universe"
Rowan never wanted to break up
"Yeah I did" I say.
"Good that means it is time for you two to head home" He says.
"Great. Lets go. I'm ready to leave" I say
"It's not that simple" He says. "You need to do it in the same spot at the same time you left on the third day. That's why I do presentations every four days and I revisit the school on the second day" He says.
"So we can go home tomorrow?" I ask
"Yep" He says.
So I have one more day with Rowan.
"I have a question" Joey says.
Of course she does.
"What was I supposed to learn while I was here?" She asks.
"Nothing. She learned the lesson here which means the alternate you will learn the lesson in the your universe" He says.
"That's so weird" She says.
I'm gonna say right now it probably has something to do with Corey
"We'll meet tomorrow before school and I will tell you exactly what is going to happen in order for you to get home." He says.
"Ok but I have one more question before we go" Joey says.
"Go ahead" He says.
"Have you ever talked to the alternate you?" She asks.
"Everyday. He's talking to the alternate you right now" He says.
"This is all so cool but weird at the same time" She says.
"I'll see you two tomorrow" He says.
"Bye Lucas" I say and we stand up
"Thank you" Joey says.
"Anytime kiddos" He says and we leave.
I go and find Rowan while Joey goes to her 7th period class.
"Hey" I say when I see Rowan
"Hi" She says back.
"Can I sleepover tonight?" I ask
"Again?" She asks
I nod
"I would love that" She says
