My father, the king is a cruel man. Once he became king of our kingdom he ordered all of the knights to kill every dragon living in Camelot and by the end of the year all dragons were killed and dead. After that he banished magic and killed anyone who ever used it. My life as prince was hard having a father who saw everything in the world to be bad where I saw some good. After all of the dragons dying my father was even worse but it was one day that changed him more then I would have liked.

It was a normal cloudy day in the kingdom, just like it normally was. Everyone was doing their jobs just like normal. I looked out my window just wishing to see a dragon fly by, but I knew that would never happen they were all gone. It wasn't until a heard a loud roar I turned my head to the sky only to see grey sky. I looked down seeing the knights coming into the castle with a cage with a creature laying inside. I ran down to the courtyard where my father was already standing.

The knights pushed the cage in stopping in front of me and my father bowing their heads.

"Your majesties" Lancelot spoke as he bowed.

"What is this?" My father asked as he rose from the ground.

"We found this beast as we were coming back from the hunt sire" I carefully looked inside to see the creature looking right at me, it's eyes golden just staring back at mine.

"I thought we had killed all of them" My father said, pulling me out of the trance.

"We thought so to sire, this one was just resting near a creek when we found it" My father looked at the creature which growled lowly as he moved towards it.

"We shall keep the beast under the castle, it will be a treasure that only the kingdom of Camelot will have" He smiled to himself. "Take the monster away" They bowed to us again as they took the dragon away. That night I couldn't sleep, I tossed and turned trying to let myself fall into sleep but I just couldn't close my eyes long enough to go to sleep. All I could think about was the way that dragon looked at me, the way it's eyes stared into mine as if trying to speak without using words. I decided I had to have a look at it.

I quickly snuck down into the underground cave under the castle to see the beast. I walked slowly inside with my torch blazing against the cave walls casting shadows. I looked around the cave seeing only jagged rocks coming from the ground. There was no dragon, had it broke free? Was it going to attack Camelot? Where was it?

Just as I thought to turn back the dragon flew from the bottom of the cave to the top giving me a scare. I fell to the ground as the dragon was pulled back, I looked to see that it's leg was chained to the rocks bellow. It whined lowly as it slowly flew back down the rocks just where I was standing. I landed then saw me and stopped staying as still as possible. We stared into each others eyes again until I pulled away standing from the floor.

"I will not hurt you dragon" It looked at me with it's bright golden eyes as it lowered itself down onto the rocks. I moved closer to it as I saw it didn't want to cause harm to me. "You are... Beautiful" I said sitting on the ground looking at the dragon. I saw it had something around it's neck it was a bit of cloth with words stitched into it in gold. The words read Emrys. "Emrys?" I said as the dragon purred lightly. "Is that your name? Emrys?" I asked making the dragon purr again. "I'm Arthur"

The dragon moved closer to me close enough so it's head was near me. It looked at me as I slowly lifted a hand to touch it's head. I placed my hand onto it's head and the creature's eyes closed as it purred again. I smiled as I slowly ran my hand across it's head. This was not a beast that only wanted to kill like my father told me as a child, this was a beautiful creature that didn't want to harm or hurt.

"You only attacked the knights because they attacked you didn't you?" I asked as I put a hand under the dragon's chin. "You were only defending yourself" The dragon looked at me almost smiling from the way it looked. "Everything our kingdom knows about you guys is wrong" I said looking at the dragon. It then placed it's head against my head closing it's huge eyes again. I smiled closing my eyes as I placed mine against the purple dragon's. I had to get it out of here, he didn't deserve to be locked up in a cave. "I will find a way to get you out of here Emrys" I pulled away to look into his eyes. "I promise"

(Okay that was the first chapter and I'm already in love with this story I love the idea of Arthur calling him Emrys instead of Merlin. As you know I wanted to do this after thinking of the idea I thought it would be a good love story between a prince who has always been taught that dragons were monsters that killed and burned down towns, who finds out for himself that they aren't like that and a young dragonlord who thinks all humans are the same and kill them for fun, only to see that all humans weren't the same and slowly falls in love with the prince. I find that a better love story then many, I really hope you like this and don't worry if you have read my other fanfic about them, I will still be doing that and updating when I can thats all see you guys and goodnight)
