I sat in the cave looking at the huge dragon in front of me, I had snuck down to see him and get him free. I had taken the guard's key to unlock the chain around Emrys' leg. I showed him the key as he moved towards me nudging me lightly with his head.

"Okay buddy I'm gonna get you out of here" I saw where the chain was connected to his leg and put the key into the lock. After turning it for a few seconds the chain fell off leaving the dragon to fly away. But he looked at me sadness in his eyes. "I'll miss you too buddy" He knelt down letting me place my head against his. "Now go" He took off into the air flying out of the huge cave he was trapped in. I ran to the courtyard seeing the knights fighting him to get him back. Emrys roared at them swinging his tail at them but didn't hit them. He went to fly away when Lance cut the dragon's leg making him cry out in pain, but flew away as fast as he could into the woods.

My father was furious that the dragon had gotten lose but thankfully he had no idea who had let him free so I was safe from him knowing it was me. I walked up to my chambers looking out at the night sky hoping Emrys got home safely.

It had been a few days after Emrys left and I kinda missed him. My manservant had quit a few days ago to be with his wife and family after she was having another baby, I had allowed him to leave and hoped his wife was well. As I walked down the town path I spotted a man I hadn't seen before talking the Gaius. He had jet black hair that was a mess, he wore a blue shirt and over it a brown jacket. I looked at his neck seeing a neckerchief wrapped around it, it looked the same colour as the one Emrys had around his neck. As I watched the younger man started walking away to leave the town. I walked over to Gaius.

"Who was that?" I asked as he turned to look at me.

"My nephew sire, he just got here from his village. His mother sent him to live with me since she hasn't got enough money to take care of him as well as herself" I looked at him leaving the town going towards the fields. I nodded at Gaius as I followed the man into the huge woods. As I came further in I heard someone speaking to someone. As I walked closer I saw Gaius' nephew talking to a small white dragon. I looked in shock as the dragon climbed onto the man's shoulder rubbing it's head against his cheek.

"Okay, okay I missed you too" He pet the dragon as it purred lightly. "You better have been a good girl for Kilgharrah, looking after a baby dragon isn't easy for someone of his age to do" What was he talking about? Who was Kilgharrah? I watched as the baby dragon jumped on his head snarling lightly making the man chuckle, taking her off his head. "Your one brave baby dragon aren't you" Her tail wagged lightly tongue sticking out. He smiled putting her on the ground. She looked right at me her tail wagging as she ran towards me jumping on me. The other man jumped to his feet running over to us picking her off me. "Aithusa no! Bad dragon!" He looked at me and our eyes met, for some strange reason it felt like I had seen him before. "I'm so sorry about this please don't kill her" I looked at the dragon in his hands.

"She's a baby dragon?" He nodded placing her on his shoulder. "I thought all the dragons were killed?" I asked looking at her as she smiled.

"I found her when she was a egg, after that I've kinda been a big brother for her" The dragon flapped her wings looking at him. "I've been gone a few days so I came to see her" I looked at him as he pet her, I felt like I had looked into his eyes before but I didn't know where I had.

"Well she's pretty beautiful" With that she flew over to me landing on my shoulder.

"She likes you which is kinda new, she normally hates other people" I pet her lightly smiling as she purred.

"What did you call her before?" I asked looking at the boy.

"Aithusa that's her name"

"Hello Aithusa, I'm Arthur it's nice to meet you" She roared lightly looking at me with a little smile on her face. I turned to look at the man again. "And I didn't catch your name" He blushed a little rubbing the back on his neck.

"Oh right, it's Merlin, Merlin Emrys" I gasped a little. He had the last name of the dragon Emrys.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Merlin" He smiled at me and I swore I had seen that smile from somewhere, but where? I sat on the ground next to Merlin and we spent the whole day playing with Aithusa until it got late. Merlin gave her a stroke as she ran off into the woods. "We better head back" He nodded as we walked back into Camelot. I looked at Merlin as we walked and wondered if I could get close to him. "Hey Merlin?"

"Yeah?" He said looking at me.

"Have you ever wanted to have a job working for a prince?" I asked looking at the ground.

"Well my uncle has been trying to find me a job why?" I smiled looking at him.

"Well my servant just quit and I'm in the need to find a new one, would you like to take the job?" I looked into Merlin's eyes as hechuckled lightly.

"Sure, I mean I have no other reason not too" I smiled putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Well then, you start tomorrow make sure you get some rest" He pat me on the back starting to walk away. "Goodnight Merlin" He turned to look at me a smile on his face.

"Goodnight Arthur" He then walked away as I smiled more thinking to myself. This might be the start of a lasting friendship.
