Ava~Mae Smith, the daughter of Betty Smith, a drop dead gorgeous blonde. She was a beautiful child, soft blonde hair like her mother with piercing blue eyes, long eyelashes and scattered freckles across her face. For 5 years old she was smart, intelligent. Following her mothers footsteps into becoming a strong child. Betty had her flaws. One of them being she hadn't spoken to anyone in her home town. They abandoned her when she made a mistake, when your mother looks at you in disgust you know you have messed up. She packed her bags, moved away. Applied for a college in a different city. The only people in Riverdale she had spoken to since leaving were Cheryl and Charles. Charles loved his little sister more then anything in the world. He would visit her frequently to see her and Ava.
But on this day Betty's heart was breaking. For the past month Ava had been having frequent stomach aches, headaches, she didn't want to eat, she was rapidly loosing weight, bruising easier then normal. When going to the gp she had been diagnosed with different infections each time but none of the medicine helped. She was still sick. The state of her only worsened one morning when Betty was with her on the sofa and she began fitting. An ambulance rushed to them and Ava was admitted into hospital which leads to now.
"Miss Smith, we have ran tests, we wanted to be sure before giving you a diagnosis but Ava has leukaemia.It is a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and other blood-forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leukocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anaemia and other symptoms. Of which Ava has been experiencing. We will run more tests to diagnose the stage your daughter is at"A tear slipped down Betty's cheek. "Your telling me, my five year old daughter has cancer"The doctor sadly nodded. Her tears fell thicker and faster. "I need to call someone"She whispered looking back into the room in which her daughter laid asleep.
Back in Riverdale, the news that Cheryl and Toni are engaged and looking into adoption was being celebrated at the Jones household. With Alice and Fp happily married now. They had hosted a dinner cooking for 20 people. Since it was summer and warm outside they were cheating by having a barbecue and eating outside. Charles was laughing with everyone else when his phone began ringing he saw Betty's name flash he answered standing up walking a few meters away from the others. "Hey its been a few days whats up"He smiled but as he heard her hysterical sobs his had cracked "Charles"Betty whimpered. "Whats happened. Are you okay"He asked in worry. When no reply came he forgot his surroundings. The people around him.
"Betts whats happened talk to me please"His voice was loud enough for everyone to hear. "What does she want, run out of girls boyfriends to make out with"Veronica scoffed. Cheryl tensed. She knew. Everything Betty had been through. Her pain. Her struggled. But most of all she remembered the smooth golden hair and ocean eyes. The little girl who brightened the day. "You don't get to say that Veronica you have no fucking idea what she's been through the past 6 years."Veronica shrugged. "And you do"Cheryl nodded her head "I do."Veronica shook her head. "Its Karma babes"Cheryl shook her head.
"Charlie...its Ava"Betty finally whimpered "Whats happened"He asked looking at Cheryl. "She---She has-Cancer"Betty finally let it out. And it took a second for a salty tear to slip down his cheek. "I am coming to you Betty. I'll book the next flight. Okay don't worry. Don't tell her yet i'l help okay"Betty cried "Oka--y. I--don't want--to loose her.-It -it was so scary..she had a -a-a seizure and then we came here they did-did-tests and in was confirmed"He wiped his tear. "I'll be with you by tonight okay. I love you. Stay strong for me"The call ended
"Charles why are you going whats happened"Alice asked he just scoffed "Like anyone cares except Cheryl and I. Cheryl its bad.I am leaving to Miami."Cheryl nodded "Do you think she needs both of us"Cheryl looked in his eyes. "She needs whoever she can have. Its bad Cheryl"Veronica shrugged "Its Karma slut deserves it"Charles was furious. "Don't you dare. Not one of you has a clue what she's been through. I am sorry i forgot to include Toni in my statement. But us three we kept in contact with her. We loved her. We cared for her."Charles shook his head "Are you two coming"He asked Cheryl nodded. "We will book a flight for tomorrow"He nodded and pulled his phone out "I have a flight in 5 hours."He paid for it. "She doesn't deserve sympathy"That cracked Cheryl
