The time we spent inside the classroom were completely opposite experiences for me and Rayleigh.
Every ring of the bell was a breath of relief for all other students, especially Rayleigh as it meant an hour closer for her to meet Hugo, but to me, every passing hour was a surge of anxiety.
Thinking about all the possible things he could do, I was too distracted to pay attention to class, though, Rayleigh seemed to act unexpectedly focused on studying.
I guess she really could handle herself.
Somehow, I was relieved by that, but it couldn't be enough with the addition of his presence.
His presence...
He has always been there since the past month, yet his presence never felt so great and so menacing until now.
I thought we both wanted a normal life this school year, I guess it was only just me then.
Some more subjects pass, and the time was near, the final bell was about to ring.
Rayleigh started smiling like a dog as the time went closer, probably fantasizing.
Normally, I should be happy to see her smile, but at this situation, it brings nothing but worry.
Suddenly, I felt goosebumps on my skin, and a slight shiver went down my spine.
I can feel him watching me again.
I turned to my right, and as expected, I caught his dangerous, emotionless gaze peering on me.
I gave him an 'I am watching you' gesture with my fingers.
He just ignored me then faced front as if he wasn't just staring at me a while ago.
I am very intimidated and annoyed.
I swear, if something happens to Rayleigh, I'm gonna—
I couldn't help but grunt in dismay.
I have no chance against him.
A few more stress-inducing moments later, the school bell finally rang its last one for the day.
Rayleigh started grooming herself.
"Val," Fixing her hair with her hands, she asked for my opinion "do I look fine?"
Some of my worries overflowed and I couldn't help it and it showed in my face.
"Yeah..."
I don't want her to be disappointed, especially not by my own actions. I really wish I could convince her not to go, but I can't just tell her everything right now.
"I know you're worried for some reason, but I really want to take this chance with him."
I couldn't do anything but frown.
"Alright, here's the deal, I'll let you eavesdrop on us, but neither Hugo nor I should know that you are there." My eyes slightly widen. "You think you can do that?"
