Hugo stood only a few inches away from me, panic was obvious from how he was acting.
His eyes were wide as if they didn't like seeing me and Calvin together.
Maybe this wasn't included in his plans after all.
"What's the matter Hugo? You look like you just saw a ghost." Calvin grinned as he teased the trembling man. "Valerie and I were just looking for you, did something happen between you two?"
"Where's Rayleigh?" I interrogated him as my fists were clenched on my sides.
He looked at me with hesitation, but he ignored my question and shifted his attention away.
"What did she tell you?" His voice was shaky, and his eyes were filled with worry as he asked the question to Calvin.
"Oh, don't worry, Valerie started looking for you before we could even talk." Calvin smirked at me.
He sighed out a a breath of relief, yet, there was still a sad expression left in his face.
Having my question ignored, my patience ran out.
I lunged forward and aggressively grabbed him by his collar.
He gasped in shock as I pulled him downwards to have his eyes level with mine.
"I asked where Rayleigh is, stop avoiding the question!"
"Whoa whoa whoa, calm down Val!" Calvin immediately grabbed my shoulders to pull me away from him. "Why don't we settle this like proper people huh?"
Putting my clenched fists at ease, I let him go. I glared deep in his eyes furiously.
"Why can't you answer the question, Fox. Where is she?"
He just frowned then looked away.
"C'mon Val, maybe he has a good reason not to answer." Calvin started getting worried about me. "Let's go buy a drink, my treat, then maybe we could talk this out in peace."
Hugo turned his back towards us.
"I'm sorry Calvin, I think I should go. I hope you two have fun."
He then started walking away.
I tried running after him but Calvin immediately grabbed my arm to stop me.
After a few steps, he halted, then muttered,
"Take care of her."
After that, he left without looking back.
"Let's go now Valerie, you really need to cool your head down."
Calvin's hands reached my head to mess with my hair, then he gave me a pat on my shoulder.
