Watching the door close, I was now alone and accompanied by the new stranger, whose name I did not know. Jose called her little A, and she did not see to correct or react to the name. When Jose left, she no longer needed me for protection. She was set free, prancing around the cell for a certain object. The cell we were in looked more like her little personal room. A twin size bed was in the corner with pictures and letters piled on her desk, "Those are from my onee-chan!" She might have saw me staring and handed me a box of tissues slowly. I thanked her. "He comes to visit sometimes.""He must be a great onee-chan." I smiled softly, blowing my nose into the tissues. I might as well get to know my cell mate if I'm going to be locked in here.
She nodded. "He is," She was playing around with her hair, having a childish smirk that resembled a bit of Natsume. "But he doesn't believe it sometimes, he can be his worst enemy." She started to pick at my lock, moving the bobby pins in various directions that seemed new to me. The chains fell on the floor, following a quiet clicking noise. I looked up at her with amazement.
"Where did you learn that from?""Onee-chan." It was obvious she looked up to her brother. She saved every little letter he sent her. Whoever he was, he did his best for the sake of his sister. I would like to meet him sometimes, although something seemed to be bothering me. Then why was she locked here this whole time? "I'm sorry about Persona tying you up like this, it was very rude of him." She apologized cutely. I just wanted to give her a tight hug. Her presence made me feel as if she was my own little sister I had to protect.
"I like you." I giggled, standing up and rubbing my wrist. Everything was neat and tidy. You can almost forget that this was a cell.
She blushed. "Thank you." There was silence afterwards. She was a very taciturn person and speaking seemed to be difficult for her. I was juggling around the right words, in hopes a conservation starter came out. "I'm Aoi." She said loudly with passion, and then blushed again. "I'm sorry I don't really get a lot of company, other than onee-chan." She was so cute.
"Hello Aoi." I awed, watching her frantic around. I noticed something strange from where I was standing from. The letters on her desk were all un-open. "Are those new?"
She sat up on the edge of her bed. "I'm blind." She said, swinging her legs back and forth. I could not even guess. She was such a cheerful person and ready to adventure. "So I can't read them..." She pouted a bit sad, but determination replaced it. "Persona says when I get better, I could read them. It just feels nice knowing onee-chan still writes them."
I stayed quiet, and she patted the bed next to her. "Don't be sad, I know I'll get better eventually. Persona says so." She hummed. "After the fire, doctors said that I would never regain my eyesight, but Persona came. He never gave up on me." Seeing the happy look on her face, I didn't have the heart to tell her about Persona's true nature. He was a devil in disguise, feeding off the misery and suffering from others. He controls people like a puppet master. I doubt he cares about her recovery and has Aoi here for an alternative purpose.
"Don't you ever get lonely?"
Aoi shook her head. "If I get lonely, onee-chan would get worried."
I blinked, the curiosity was killing me. "Your onee-chan goes to the academy right?"
She nodded. "Correct." I thought of many possibilities. Her cuteness could be passed down from Ruka's family, and that could explain the rabbit stickers on the letter.
"I didn't know Ruka had a sister." I stated. She looked at me like I was crazy.
"Oh, no no no. Ruka-san isn't my brother." She said giggling.
"Tsubasa?"
"Nope."
"...Jose?"
She looked disgusted and with a small pout, she said, "You really are bad at this." "A little help?" I whined. I could not think of anyone else that might fit the image. With a large smile on her face, I was taken back.
"Natsume-nee!"
I blinked, "Wha?"
