Jaiden laid in her bed staring up at the ceiling wondering, where did her life go wrong. Oh yeah, when my mother died and the only female role models I was close too decided to move out of the state she thought. She wasn't mad that her sisters wanted to leave, she was mad that they didn't come to visit, or allow her to come and visit. Instead, she and Jacob had grown up without them, they didn't even get Christmas cards anymore.
"Jay, do you mind coming with me to the Clearwaters," Her Dad's frail voice called through the house. She was technically supposed to be at school, except she took a mental health day, not wanting to deal with the drama that came with high school.
"Sure Dad, just let me get dressed real quick," She replied while rolling straight off her bed and onto the floor, before picking out an outfit. She was silently hoping that Seth Clearwater wouldn't be home. It's not like she disliked the overly happy boy. It's just that after her mother died, and her sisters left she didn't feel like smiling, and that was almost impossible when Seth was around. After she had completed her grieving process and she finally felt a little happier, she still couldn't find it in her to explain to the Clearwater boy why she had dropped him from her life. Now 7 years later she still tried avoiding him.
"You ready pumpkin," Her Dad Billy asked as she exits her room. She wasn't wearing her usual attire, instead, she decided on a comfortable look, leggings, one of Jacobs light grey hoodies that wasn't stained with oil, and a pair of checkered vans.
"Yeah let's go," Jaiden said as she wheeled her father out of the house in his wheelchair. She wheeled him towards an old car that she got from a junkyard and paid Jacob to fix up. Technically she wasn't supposed to have a car considering she was barely 15, as her birthday had been January 9th and it was now February 3rd. But when your father's best friend was the chief of police, and he understood the struggles of having her Dad confined to a wheelchair, it tended to make things easier.
"Seth's excited to see you, he stayed home today too," Billy said which interrupted the unusually silent car. Jaiden's sharp eyes turned to her father quickly before she turned her attention back to the road.
"I didn't realize he'd be home," She said in an emotionless tone. She didn't miss the smirk her father sent her.
"Well, when Harry called inviting me over last night, I mentioned you would probably come to considering you weren't going to school. I can only assume he told Seth, and you know how much the boy likes you," Billy said with a smile. He knew one day Seth would be a shifter, and he had big plans for Harry to officially join his family, the only other thing he needed was for his own son Jacob to imprint on Bella Swan so that his other friend Charlie could also join the family. Then the three best friends could be even closer, even though Billy wasn't the biggest fan of Bella.
"This is the only reason you let me skip today isn't it. Because ever since I was a little girl you've always been hell-bent on trying " She accused her father, although she couldn't prevent a grin from spreading on her face.
"First of all, you still are my little girl, second of all how else are we going to get Harry to join the family," Billy asked with a deep chuckle. "I don't think Leah will go for your brother," He teased.
"Is there any reason you keep trying to set us up, other than so you can be inlaws with your best friend?" Jaiden asked as she pulled her car into the Clearwaters driveway, once the car was in park she turned towards her father with a raised eyebrow.
"I already said, the boy likes you," Her father said before Seth eagerly ran out of the house and opened Billy's door to assist him out of the car. He opened the back door and pulled out the wheelchair and then lifted Billy to move them while Jaiden turned off the car and stepped out into the cold air. She walked next to Seth as he pushed her father inside and she didn't miss that he had more pep-in-his-step than usual.
