I realized in the last chapter I awkwardly switched to 1st person with no warning but this chapter will be in 3rd person again
Jaiden woke up feeling cold which had become almost foreign to her since Seth had spent almost every night in her room. Instead of his presence, there was a note that read 'Had to go for patrol xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo Seth' She laughed at the excessive signature he used. For the first time since Seth had imprinted on her, she felt like her old self again. She realized the only time she felt like this was when she felt alone, she was back to feeling like an overly stressed college student and the only time she felt her own age was when Seth was around.
"Hey Baby girl," Paul said as he fell down on her bed. He grabbed her dab pen out of her nightstand and took a long rip before handing it to her.
"Hey sweetness," She said before taking two shorter rips off the pen.
"Are you missing lover boy," Paul teased her, she immediately threw her blankets over her head before kicking his side as hard as she could making him drop painfully onto the floor.
"Shut up Paul," She said as a large cloud of smoke came out from under the blanket, Paul laughed before yanking the blankets off of her.
"Let's go to Sams, Seth will be there in an hour," Paul said with a large grin on his face. Jaiden immediately shook her head.
"I have school," She said, of course, she wasn't going to school and Paul would inevitably figure that out but for now she needed an excuse. She wanted to spend the day feeling like her old self and it wouldn't happen if Seth was around.
"You're going to school," Paul asked while turning around as she changed. She put on her black high-waisted jeans with rips that covered the thighs, a white spaghetti strapped crop-top that said 'Angel', and her black studded leather jacket.
"Well I haven't been all week so I should probably start being more responsible," She said while running her hand through her curls to get rid of any knots before applying her leave-in conditioner and scrunching her hair.
"Since when do you care about being responsible?" Paul asked as he watched her fix her hair until she was satisfied. He was starting to catch on that she was lying but he wasn't sure what she was up to.
"Paul I'm just trying to avoid getting in trouble with my dad," She said while slipping on her knock-off Doc Martens.
"Cool, I'll drive you," He said while furrowing his eyebrows at her curiously.
"I know where it is," She said before heading into the bathroom to brush her teeth. She could hear Paul on the phone in her room but she ignored him.
"Yeah she's definitely up to something," Paul said to whoever was on the other line. "Yeah. No, she said she's going to school but something is off. Yeah okay," Paul's last words sounded annoyed so Jaiden made the decision to leave her phone that was in the same room as Paul.
When she arrived at her destination and smiled at the two people who stood in the long driveway. Rosalie and Emmett Cullen both looked confused when they saw her sitting in an old beat-up car.
"Hey besties," Jaiden said while exiting the car and doing jazz hands. "I need to talk to Rosalie in private," She said awkwardly while Rosalie nodded.
"Were taking my car," Rosalie said while leading the girl to the garage, Rosalie didn't want to insult the girl but there was no way she would willingly get into that car. Jaiden eagerly got into the red convertible she had never been in such a nice car before and she was slightly embarrassed by her car before she remembered Rosalie had over 100 years to save up for this car while she was only 15.
"Okay so I was just wondering if being with Emmett ever changes you," Jaiden asked when they were far enough from the house that nobody could possibly hear her.
"Of course it does, when you truly love someone being with them will always make you happier," She said while looking at me with a confused look.
"That's not what I mean, before Seth imprinted on me I was sure of who I was. I was mature, people considered me to be a badass, and I was definitely a rebel. But now I just act like this innocent little kid around him," Jaiden said while slumping her shoulders. Rosalie pulled her car into the parking lot of the Forks Mall before turning to look at the much younger girl.
"What I see is a girl who was afraid to let her guard down. Now you've found someone who makes you feel safe and you're finally allowing yourself to be vulnerable," Rosalie answered as both girls exited the car. Jaiden wanted to argue with the statement but the more she thought about it the more she realized Rosalie was right.
"What are we doing here?" Jaiden asked as Rosalie led her into American Eagle. The only stores Jaiden ever shopped in were Rue 21 or Hot Topic and she wasn't sure she had ever even stepped foot in this store.
"I'm buying you new clothes," Rosalie answered as if it was simple.
"Why?" Jaiden questioned again.
"You look like you're on your way to vandalize a church," Rosalie said not hiding her distaste for the girl's current clothes. Jaiden wanted to argue but she was cut off by Rosalie handing her clothes to go try on. Jaiden hated that all the clothes Rosalie bought were dresses, what she hated, even more, was the fact that Rosalie took her original clothes and convinced the store clerk to let her wear one of the dresses out of the store.
"You should probably head back, those boys are going to be worried about you," Carlisle said as Jaiden and Rosalie stepped out of the car at the Cullen's house.
"They'll be fine," Jaiden said while waving her arm carelessly. Carlisle gave her a pointed look causing her to sigh and grab her bag of new clothes out of Rosalie's back seat. "Bye guys," She said with one last wave of her hand and got into her car to head back to Sam and Emily's. She already regretted her decision to head back this soon because no matter what lies she came up with she realized everyone except Emily would be able to smell the Cullen's scent on her.
As soon as she stepped out of her car she could hear growling. She turned her head and noticed the bushes that were planted before the woods were shaking. Invisible to her was a very angry Paul who was so blinded by the scent of a vampire he didn't notice that it was just Jaiden. He let out a loud growl before running out of the woods, he was seeing red at the fact that Emily was alone and unprotected in the house while all the other wolves were in the woods running their patrols. Seth who was reading Paul's thoughts immediately noticed that Paul was about to attack Jaiden and sprinted as fast as he could toward her.
When Jaiden saw Paul's wolf sprinting at her it felt like time had frozen, Paul was still moving faster than any normal wolf should be able to. While it felt like it took her hundreds of years to turn around while dropping to her knees in fear. She let out the loudest shriek she had ever made while all the other wolfs sprinted towards Paul in an attempt to stop him. By the time Paul recognized the girl he was already in the air with his claws outstretched ready to rip through her skin.
This chapter was long overdue, I am so sorry about the wait thank you all for sticking around <3 The next chapter is coming soon I pinky promise!
