I'm sure most of you don't know who Johnny Flynn is (heck, Wattpad doesn't even have him on their list of cast!) but he's so incredibly cute and just looks like a guy you'd want to talk to.

All these woes shall serve

For sweet discourses in our time to come.

“Oh my god! Oh my god! Help him!” I wailed to the ambulance personnel.

The boy’s hand dropped out of mine and I felt instantly cold. I grabbed his hand in mine again and urged his heart to beat.

“Miss! Please! Out of the way!” The nurse struggled to get around me, forcing me to put his hand down to get out of the way.

I sat myself in the corner of the vehicle and somehow managed to stay conscious. I crossed my arms over my stomach, attempting to hold myself together, when I felt the car lurch to a stop. The boy was rushed out of the ambulance and ushered in through the hospital doors so quickly that it left me in a daze. I felt a hand pull me out, but couldn’t see a face because of the white dots that suddenly obscured my vision.

“Wait here, ma’am, and someone will come out periodically to update you on his condition.”

I daftly nodded in the direction the voice was coming from.

Had someone’s heart really stopped beating right in front of me? Had I just witnessed death?

I folded myself up into the chair for what seemed like hours. In the state I was in an elephant could have ran through the lobby while a gorilla stole babies and I wouldn’t have known.

I felt a tap on my shoulder.

“Miss Washington?”

I mumbled something that apparently sounded like the answer he was looking for.

“Aiyden is in a lot of pain right now. He had significant internal bleeding and multiple facial lacerations that needed to be taken care of. We’re doing the best we can, but time will be the best heeler in this case.”

I looked at him, puzzled, as he turned around to leave.

“You can go see him now, if you’d like. He isn’t quite awake, but I’m sure he’d like to have his girlfriend by his side when he did wake up.”

My rebuttal at the girlfriend comment came out as a rough croak and I gave up.

Did I want to see him? The more logical part of me screamed no because of what I knew he had done to Jack. It didn’t help that Aiyden was a juvenile delinquent who probably had a nice, long record to go with each of his tattoos.

I had no business being around him, I knew, but for some reason I felt compelled to. If the situation were reversed, would I want his sibling there to comfort me in a hospital bed? No. But, I also wouldn’t want to wake up to no one. I’ll only wait for him to come around or until a family member or friend gets here, I told myself.

And with that, I tried imaging that my legs were made of concrete, instead of jelly, so that I could walk myself to his room.

I sat myself in a similar position on the chair next to his bed, unable to look at him. I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I knew, I was waking up to his voice.

“Hi.” He said softly, still talking through the oxygen mask.

I straightened myself out on the chair while I replied. “Hey.”
