The stars in the night sky were dim that night, the only light being emitted by the full moon and the passing cars. No wind was blowing and the temperature was perfect; not a single thing could ruin that night. It was finally the mercenary's day off, and that night they decided to go to a drive-in theater. The Exorcist was playing, and everybody thought that it would be a fun thing to do together. Well, everybody except Medic, who claimed he had some extra work to do.
Spy rested his arm on the rolled down window as he drove, rolling his eyes as he listened to Scout try to smooth talk Miss Pauling in the back. Sniper sat in the seat next to him, quiet, but smiling. Heavy was not smiling, however, as he sat next to Miss Pauling, who seemed to be inching closer and closer to Heavy as Scout continued to say more idiotic things. Engineer, Demo, Pyro, Soldier, and Zhanna were all in Engie's truck, and Spy could only imagine how things were going on in there.
After driving for around twenty or so minutes, they finally pulled into the lot of the drive-in theater. Spy paid for everyone in the car, then parked in front of the screen playing The Exorcist. Engineer parked next to him, the trunk of the truck facing the screen, and hopped out. He walked over to the driver's side of Spy's car.
"Are y'all gonna stay in here?" Engie asked everyone in the car. "There might be space on my truck for two of y'all if you'd like."
"Nah, we're good!" Scout exclaimed as he tried to scoot closer to Miss Pauling, who was getting real tired of Scout's shit.
"We'll be fine, thank you." Spy sighed.
"Alrighty." Engie nodded. "Heavy, would ya like to come get some popcorn with me?"
Heavy practically jumped out of the car as soon as Engineer asked. This took Engie aback a bit, while Spy and Sniper had to hold back their laughter as they realized why he wanted to get out so badly.
Wondering when the movie would start, Spy looked down at his watch. Five more minutes. Spy turned to look at Sniper, who looked ready to fall asleep already despite it only being 7:55.
"Do you want to go get some drinks?" Spy asked him.
"Sure." Sniper replied, getting out of the car.
Spy opened his door, then turned to look in the back at Scout and Miss Pauling.
"Would you two like anything?"
"No thanks." Scout said.
"A Coke would be great, thank you." Miss Pauling replied.
Spy nodded, getting out of the car and closing the door. As he did, he felt a slight breeze of air, which he found strange. It wasn't supposed to be windy at all that night.
"Ya coming?" Sniper called as he started walking towards the concession stand, still facing Spy.
Spy shrugged off the wind, quickly following behind Sniper. As they walked, Spy slipped, and very not so gracefully fell to the ground. He looked up at Sniper, who was looking down at him, suppressing a laugh.
"Not one word, Bushman." Spy hissed as he stood up. He smelled something strong, and then realized what he had slipped on.
"Is this... Gasoline?" Spy asked.
"That's strange." Sniper said, looking around. "Someone's car must be leaking."
"You think?" Spy remarked, before leading the way over to the stand.
The two of them got in line for popcorn and drinks, quickly got everything, then headed back to Spy's car. As they got in, the movie began to play. All the lights around them turned off, aside from the concession stand, and not a sound was made as the first scene began to play.
