A/N: This is an mermaid reader. Requested by Rodikoda, thank you!!

The ocean looks so pretty this way. I flip my tail back and forth to keep myself slightly afloat. The water feels calm and comfortable against my scales. I allow the water to carry me adrift, not caring where I end up.

There's a splash somewhere in the distance. A displacement of water caused by an object. I open one eye to see if I can catch what caused the splash. A body is surrounded by bubbles as it slowly sinks. I wait a moment to see if this person needs help. My eyes can't get a clear vision of who this person is, but they aren't swimming back up.

Then I realize that they aren't swimming. I move as fast as I can to get to this person before they sink too far. Upon arriving at the heavy body, I look at the person's face and feel star struck. He has kind, gentle features.

He isn't trying to breathe and he isn't moving either. The only way I can save him is to give him oxygen and bring him back to shore as quick as possible. But it's also a somewhat risky operation. If I kiss him he has the potentiality of becoming half merman; I haven't yet trained my quirk very well.

"I'm sorry if I curse you," I whisper before hastily kissing him. My lungs are put to work blowing air into his mouth and down to his own lungs. He responds by choking into the kiss and I pull back so he can breathe. "Are you alright?" I ask him for reassurance.

He wipes his mouth, looking at me skeptically. "Wh-who are you?" he asks me. "The name's L/N Y/N, I just saved your life," I smile, still holding onto his arm to help keep him from sinking. "Koda Koji, thank you," he appreciates shyly, a blush eminent on his face.

I look over his form, observing the rest of his features and what he's wearing. Then I notice that his legs are slightly flailing. "Can you swim Koda-kun?" I question. "Not very well," he responds quietly. Then a look of surprise slaps his face and stays there. "W-wait, how am I breathing!?" he questions frantically.

A drop of sweat slides down my forehead for a bit before being absorbed into the water surrounding us. "I, um, kissed you and made you half merman," I inform him. He looks at me fearfully, proceeding to take deep breaths.

"If you would like, I could take you back to shore Koda-kun. And my quirk's effect on your body is permanent, sorry," I offer, feeling responsible for his now permanent condition. "It's alright L/N, I'm not worried about your quirk . . . " he trails off. I look up at his face, mine features expressing curious shock. "What is it then?" I querie.

"Y-you were my first k-kiss," he whispers just audible enough for me to hear. "O-oh, I'm sorry Koda-kun," I mumble, feeling even worse. "Can you um, bring me back now? My classmates must be worried about me," he says. I nod, feeling determined all of a sudden.

I get Koda safely towards shore, finally able to let go of him. "Thank you L/N. I want to come back sometime, and see you again," he tells me, bringing a look of shock on my face once again. "Alright, I'll wait here everyday before sundown then," I smile, happy that he isn't afraid of me. "Bye L/N-chan," he departs, leaving me flustered and lonesome.

Several weeks later~

"I'm really happy that you've been coming to see me Koda," I voice my thoughts. "M-me too," he blushes. With the several days we've spent together, we've gotten to know each other, I've shared the world I live in with Koda-he's only been able to describe his world-I've helped him learn how to swim, and my initial attraction has grown more powerful.

"I wish I could be a hero alongside you Koda-kun," I add, feeling a distant loneliness. "I wish you could be there with me too, Y/N-chan," a shiver runs throughout my body at the use of my first name. The atmosphere around us has changed; it feels warmer and thicker. Koda's back tenses up against mine. We're currently sitting back-to-back on a rock at the bottom of the sea.

"There's something I want to tell you Y/N," Koda attempts to speak firmly. His voice wavers a bit but he sounds so sure of himself. "What is it, Koji?" I test his first name with my vocals. "Y/N, please look at me," he commands softly rather than asking. We turn around simultaneously.

"Y/N, I-I love you!" he closes his eyes tightly. Tears form in my eyes and they float away with the rest of the salty water that engulfs us. I don't say anything but instead press my lips against his. He doesn't hesitate to kiss back and wrap his arms lovingly around my waist. Who knew that the man I cursed would fall in love with me?
