A/N: Okay . . . this is my first gender neutral one shot. And not to mention a female character×reader. I apologize in advance if this sucks. This was requested by OnlyCoolyori. I hope you like it!

Y/N's POV

Things got rough at home again so I decided to take a trip to my favorite park not too far from the house I lived in. I wouldn't call it home necessarily. There's nothing homey about it. My parents fight all the time now ever since big bro left. He wanted to become a pro hero despite my parents' objections. So he moved away and started going to U.A. in hopes of becoming an amazing hero with his sound-manipulation quirk.

He never came back for me like he said he would though. That just topped the cake of disappointment in my life. I've stopped expecting things from anyone any more. It's useless to hope and then have that hope crushed to smithereens.

With my guitar on my back I look up at the sky. It's such a nice day out too. I wonder what I could have done different to make my situation even a smidge better. I can't change the past though so there's no point in dwelling on it. I'm nearing the park and as I look across the street at it I notice that there's not a lot of people. Perfect for me.

The light turns red for the cars and white for pedestrians. I hastily jog across the street keeping a hand on the bottom of my guitar case so I don't jostle it too much. I stop jogging and walk to the entrance of the park, already looking for a spot where I can play my guitar in peace. Spotting a tree with a decent amount of shade and not a lot of people, I venture to it.

Sitting down against the trunk with my guitar now in my lap and my case beside me I take a breather. Playing my guitar has always helped me relax and let everything go. It's the one thing my parents did for me before big bro left. They payed for guitar lessons so that I could find an enjoyable hobby.

Strumming the chords I tune my guitar to my liking. Finding the perfect tune, I put my tuner away and think of a song I'd like to play. Thinking of a good one I use my pic and fingers in tandem to play the melody. I hum to the song and close my eyes to focus on the music.

I continue to play the music until I hear footsteps nearby and stop playing my guitar. I open my eyes and a pretty girl stands in front of me looking excited. "What song are you playing?" she suddenly asks me. I blink a couple of times looking down at my guitar. "O-oh, um it's called 'Can We Kiss Forever?' by Kina and Adriana Proenza," I admit with a slight blush.

Now that I take a good look at this girl, she's really pretty. "That's a really good song," she comments. I simply nod my head and don't make eye contact. "I'm Kyouka Jirou," she greets, sticking her hand out. I blink a couple of times again before speaking. "I'm Y/N L/N," I reply. I shake her hand and she smiles back at me. "Do you mind if I join you? I have snacks. I'll share them if I get to hear you play some more?" she suggests trying to spark a bargain.

"U-uh sure," I reply quietly. She smiles and sits on the opposite side of where my guitar case is. She rummages through her bad and pulls out some pocky. "Here?" she asks holding it out to me. "Thank you," I appreciate and our fingers brush against each other just a little bit which sends shivers throughout my body. I try to open the package as normally as possible, I don't want to make any mistakes around this girl.

I finish my pocky quickly, wiping my hands on the fabric of my jeans. Repositioning my body, I get ready to start the song over again. I play the music with my heart and soul; for some reason I really want to impress Jirou. After finishing the song Jirou speaks, "That was pretty amazing. How long have you been playing?"

"Since I was five," I reply with a blush. "That's awesome! I've been playing instruments ever since I was young too," she admits with her own blush. She checks the watch on her wrist and her eyes go wide. "Oh shoot! I was supposed to go to the store," she reminds herself. She looks at me and frantically goes through her bag. I move my eyebrows in opposite directions at her little panic session.

She pulls out a small notebook and pen. Scribbling something on it, she shoves the ripped piece of paper towards me. "I have to go but call me when you get a chance!" she tells me. I look at her with doll eyes and she smiles. "Talk to ya later L/N!" she shouts while running off. When she's gone I read what she's written on the paper. It's a phone number and her name.

I blink and then bury my face in my hands out of embarrassment. I'm happy to see that she at least wants to be my friend. Maybe today won't be so bad after all.
