Abby ran to the place she knew most, the place that gave her peace. That place was the mountains. She didn't care that she was missing school. She couldn't go on like this. She sat down on her favorite rocks, admiring the beauty of the nature around her, along with the outlook over the city. As she fidgeted with rocks and twigs around her, she heard a stick snap behind her. Her flight or fight instinct kicked it. She had heard of bears roaming these woods, and was hoping this wouldn't be her last day on earth.
"Gawt room for one more?"
Abbie gasped.
"Robert what are you doing here?!" Abbie asked surprised
"When aye get stressed, I lahike to come here to relax"
"Even when you miss school?" Abbie questioned wiping her eyes so he wouldn't see her pain.
"If it means being in nature." He took a pause
"I saw you run away before school started, are you ok now?"
His caring eyes looked into Abbie's. She couldn't help but be completely honest to him.
"Truth is, I was kinda thrown off by you hugging ___ this morning."
"You mean my cousin ___? Why did that throw you off?"
Abbie was shocked
"You guys are cousins?!?!"
" yeah Ai'm actually living with them and their family. Pretty great huh?"
"Yeah... pretty great"
As they continued talking she steered the subject away from why she was crying, and was happy Robert didn't suspect a thing.
