Rodrick x Reader: Rodrick becomes a father

Chapter:  Resuscitation

As the doctors and nurses start to flood the room Rodrick starts to panic. "Mom, what's happening" says Rodrick as he paces the waiting room floor. "I'm not sure sweetie but I'm positive it'll all be okay" says Susan trying not to worry Rodrick. The doctors come in and give the good news that you've survived. Turns out you have an aortic stenosis, this means your heart is weak and the pregnancy jump started it. The doctors revived you but you're very weak. Rodrick comes in and begins to apologize and express his love for you. "I don't want to hear it right now Rodrick" you say, Susan comes in right after and excitedly says " oh honey, I'm so glad you're okay" you give her a hug and then begin to discuss what happened. It's obvious Rodrick wants to talk to you but you're so angry you don't even want to see him. After a stressful day like this all you wanted to do was sleep, "Um Susan, I'm really tired and I think I should sleep" you say hoping she understands. "Oh of course y/n, we'll see you tomorrow okay?" She says as she walks out the door. Rodrick slowly follows after her but then something compelled you to keep him with you. "Rodrick, you can stay if you want" you say hesitantly. He goes to your bedside and gives you a sad look. "Rodrick I don't want to talk about this now. You really hurt me but when the time comes We'll have this discussion". "Okay..." says Rodrick with a guilty face. You start to fall asleep and the last thing you see is Rodrick giving you a forehead kiss.

The Next Afternoon
The doctors said you were clear to go back home. It's Wednesday and you knew you had to be back tomorrow for your appointment. Rodrick signs you out and you both go back home. The ride home was silent and awkward. "I was really worried for you ya'know" says Rodrick trying to initiate a conversation. You really didn't want to talk to him but you felt kind of bad. Even after all this you still love him and feel like you could work things out, you also felt like he's still going to cheat on you and his apologies were bullshit. "Look Rodrick, I love you but if you want this relationship to work out we need to talk about this you can't just act like nothing happened". Rodrick stayed silent but then started to explain himself "look, I know what I did was horrible and I really don't know why I did it. I feel like shit babe, can you please forgive me? Honestly if you can't I understand because I don't even know if I can forgive myself" you silently took in what he had to say. "I have to think about it. But you need to promise me you'll never talk to Heather again" right after you say this Rodrick's phone goes off. It's heather, "I'm breaking things off now, and I'll tell her I never want to see her again" says Rodrick and he lifts the phone to his ear. You can hear heather through the other end of the phone, "Hey Rodrick, you haven't texted in like a day are you okay?" Says Heather. Rodrick takes a deep breath and begins to tell her what happened, "Look Heather, I want nothing to do with you. I never want to see you again outside of school and after Graduation I won't even speak to you again" after he says all this he doesn't even seem to care what she has to say and hangs up immediately. "I did it y/n and I did it for you and our baby" at this time you knew Rodrick really felt guilty and you thought you should forgive him. "Okay Rodrick, I forgive you but I don't think I can trust you yet. This did a lot to our relationship but because of our baby I'm willing to work it out" you say while getting out the car. Once you entered the home you're greeted with balloons and a hugs and a sign that says "Get Well Soon y/n". Susan was the first to greet you and rubbed your belly while she exclaimed how happy she was you both were okay. "Well I think to celebrate we should all go out to dinner!" Says Susan as she picks up Manny. "That's a great idea! All that hospital food really has me craving something with actual flavor. Honestly some Mexican food sounds amazing right now". As you're all walking to the car Rodrick takes your hand, "I love you" he says, "I love you too" you say back.

The Next Day
Today was appointment day and you were more than excited to find out the gender of your baby. "If you're good I promise I'll buy you lunch afterwards" says Rodrick teasingly. "Ugh okay but it better be pizza, your child has been dying for some since yesterday." You say trying to add on to the joke. You check in and the waiting room time took longer then usual, they must have known it was a special occasion and want to keep you on edge. A door opens and you hear a nurse say "Y/N". "Oh that's me" you say and get up, she takes you guys to the room, "the doctor will be with you shortly, in the meantime I'll be asking you some questions" the nurse says while typing on the computer.
"Do you drink"
"No"
"Do you smoke"
"No"
"Are you married"
"No"
The doctor walks and the questions end there but the marriage question really got to you. "Well Mrs. Heffley I'm DR. Ruiz and I'll be here to take your ultrasounds". "Hello Dr. Ruiz, you can call me "y/n" I'm not officially Mrs. Heffley yet" you say while shaking his hand. The ultrasounds goes well and then it gets to the part we've all been waiting for, the gender reveal! "Well y/n I'm looking around and it seems like you've got a little boy on your hands". Rodrick excitedly gets up and does a little dance "YES" he says. The doctor look at him and smiles, "uh sorry" says Rodrick as he lets out a small giggle. "Rodrick I'm so happy" you say as you begin to hold his hand. As you both walk out the hospital Rodrick takes you out to lunch. You both wanted to have a little party and surprise Susan and the family about the gender of the baby, money is a bit tight right now but you've been trying to find a job but it seems like nobody wants to hire a pregnant teen dropout. Rodrick has some money from a gig he had a week ago. They paid surprisingly well and Rodrick had put the money away for a special occasion, "well how do you want to tell them?" Asks Rodrick before you enter the house. "I'm not sure but I don't want it to be too extravagant" right after you say this Rodrick gets a phone call. He doesn't tell you who it is and he picks it up right away. You don't trust him especially after all that's happened between you two but you don't think he'd be so stupid to keep talking to Heather. "Sorry about that y/n, it was Heather again. She keeps calling and trying to get back to me, it seems like every time I block her number she comes up with a new one" he says as he comes out the other room. This is really concerning to you but you think nothing of it because you knew his apology was sincere. Soon after it was dinner time and Susan was very excited to know the gender. "Well what is it?! Tell us y/n I've been dying to know" she says as she serves manny a plate. "I would love to tell you but Rodrick and I have decided we want it to be a surprise for you guys" you say as you scoop a big ball of mashed potatoes onto your plate. The rest of the night was full of Susan and Frank going on about what the boys were like as babies and how happy they were for your newest addition. When 10:00 rolls around you begin to get tired so you head up to Rodrick's room. "Can you please stop calling me Heather, this is starting to get annoying. I already told you I want nothing to do with you." You hear Rodrick say in a whispery tone. You're happy that he's sticking up for himself but it really makes you upset that Heather really won't give up on having Rodrick for herself. Rodrick hangs up and sees that you were there the whole time. "Oh hey y/n, I swear there's nothing going on between us anymore, she just keeps calling me from different numbers" he says as he gets closer to you. "It's okay Rodrick, I know you'll do the right thing" you say while trying to get ready for bed. "Goodnight Rodrick, I love you" Rodrick responds with a yawn and says "I love you too y/n and I hope you know nobody can get between us". This comment really touched you, both of you soon fell asleep in each other's arms and let the night drift away.
