Chapter 7

Miranda pulled her dress back down and picked up her underwear. The big rip in them prevented her from putting them back on. She smoothed out the bottom of her dress and turned around. He had his pants pulled up, but he hadn't zipped them up yet. He was just standing there staring at her with his pants open. She smirked. She zipped and fastened up his pants, and then she rested her hands on his shoulders. Neither one of them knew what to say, but they also didn't want to say anything to ruin this moment. It was silent for about 5 minutes.

"Please, please say something!" Blake asked her

"I don't know what to say," she whispered

He leaned his head into her chest and wrapped his arms around her waist. She placed her chin on his head and rubbed his back.

"I want you Miranda. I do, but now I know I can't have you," he admitted

"This was a bad idea. This entire thing!"

Blake adjusted himself so he could look her in the eye, and she saw the sadness in his eyes.

"I want you too," she admitted again

Blake rested his forehead against hers, "but you're, you can't have me and I can't have you."

Blake wanted to cry hearing those words coming from her mouth, "shit man! I don't know what the hell this is! You're not my first pick up from the bar, you're not my first one night stand, but...."

"But I'm the best?" She finished for him

"You don't have to rub it in!"

She smiled, "I'm not. I'm just saying the exact same feeling I'm feeling. You're the best Blake, the best ever, but my mama didn't raise me this way."

"I don't know why, but I just know I want to wake up next to you, fix you breakfast, rub your feet, massage your back, fight, argue, play, and make love to you for the rest of my life, but......"

"But I already have somebody to do that."

Blake sighed and so did Miranda. This was harder than they thought. Miranda untangled herself from Blake and walked over towards the couch.

"I still would love to get to know you, and I do still want you in my life but as my friend."

"Are you serious?" He asked

"Your my best friend's husband's best friend, not to mention my marriage counselor now. You're going to be apart of my life whether we want it or not!"

"But as friends?"

"As friends."

"So you just want me to push aside my feelings to be your friend?"

Miranda grabbed her purse and headed towards the door. She unlocked it and turned to Blake, "I'm doing the same thing." And with that she was gone.

"SHIT!!" Blake screamed punching a hole in the wall. This was going to be hard.

It was now Sunday. 2 days since Blake last had her. He just couldn't get Friday out of his head. Today was Kelly and Brandon's son, Lucas, 6th birthday party. He knew for a fact Miranda was going to be there. She was Kelly's best friend and Lucas's godmother for god's sake! There was no way he couldn't show up, Lucas was like his nephew. He had known and loved that little boy since the day he was born. There really wasn't nothing he could do, that's why he was in the car headed to the farm. He arrived there in like 15 minutes, found a park, and stopped the car. Just when he was about to get out, he heard her. Her giggle. It made his heart burst. He looked out his window and saw her parked in front of him. She had her cell phone balanced between her cheek and shoulder while she walked around to the back of her truck. His breath caught in his throat. She was wearing a pink tank top with the words bad ass scribbled across the chest and some ripped faded cut offs shorts that fit her hips and ass just right. She even made her simple pink flip flops look amazing! Her hair was in a messy bun with pink sunglasses on the top of her head. She looked so hot, and his wranglers suddenly grew tight. He instantly started his truck, backed up and, drove away. He knew somebody saw him, but he had to give himself a few minutes before seeing her again. This friendship crap was going to be the hardest thing he had ever done.
