Chapter 14

"The kids are fine! She said they're sleeping," Thomas said sitting down back at his seat

"She?"

"What?" Thomas said looking up

"You said 'she' said they're sleeping," Miranda looked at him oddly. Their children's babysitter was their neighbor's teenage son.

"No I didn't!"

"Yes you did," Miranda turned toward him. What the hell was going on?

"Miranda NO I didn't. The kids are fine. Tyler said they're fine lets just finish enjoying our meal baby," he kissed her forehead and cut into his steak

Miranda looked over at Kelly and Kelly nodded her head. She just turned back toward her meal and sent a text to Tyler. They proceeded back into conversation, and Miranda's phone vibrated on her lap.

'Hey Mrs.S. The kids are great! They both had their baths, and we're just in the living room watching Spongebob'

Miranda glared in Thomas's direction and looked back at Kelly. Kelly rolled her eyes and started shaking her leg under the table. Brandon and Blake noticed the exchange between the 2 women, and Brandon placed his hand on Kelly's leg to try and calm her down.

Blake texted Miranda.

'Whats wrong?'

'Nothing!' Was all she texted back and she remained quiet throughout the entire rest if the meal. What the hell had Thomas done?

It had been an entire day and Blake heard nothing from Miranda. Last night at dinner, something happened and he didn't know what, but he was going to find out. He was happy their session was scheduled for tomorrow. Blake had just got out if the shower and was in his boxers and a shirt. It was a knock at the door and Blake hesitated before he answered it. They knocked again and he sighed before he went to go answer it. He opened the door and thought he was dreaming. Miranda was standing there soaking wet with both of her sleeping kids in her arms. She looked exhausted! Blake immediately took Hunter out of her arms and ushered them into the house. They laid both kids down on the couch, and Blake immediately took Miranda into his arms. She was shivering.

"Baby what's wrong?"

She didn't speak. She barely moved. She just tightened her arms around his neck.

"Miranda?"

She still didn't respond.

"Miranda!"

She pulled back and looked him in the eye, "we need to lay them down somewhere."

She walked back over to the couch and proceeded to take Daisy's coat off. Blake walked over and did the same thing to Hunter. Once their coats were off, Blake picked them both up and walked them to his room. He laid them down and smiled when they snuggled into each other and Hunter grabbed ahold of his little sister. Blake turned out the light and walked back out to see Miranda shaking on the couch. She had to be freezing!

"Come here," Blake told her when he was seated on the couch. She laid back into his chest, and he wrapped his arms around her. She felt safe.

"Now can you tell me what's wrong?"

"This morning I asked Tyler to watch the kids for me for about an hour or so because Thomas got up and left and I wanted to see just where the hell he was going. I followed him to the other side of town and he pulled up to this beautiful white house. It had happy birthday banners hung all around it. On the front door it said 'Happy 7th Birthday Jessica,' and this little girl with this gorgeous pink dress on and ribbons in her hair ran out. She had a 'birthday girl' crown on. She ran into Thomas arms screaming daddy! Thomas kissed her on her forehead and told her happy birthday. They walked onto the porch and Thomas kissed this woman on the lips and told her 'hi honey.' She was holding this baby, and Thomas kissed him on the head too and said 'how's daddy's little guy doing?' He's had another family this entire time."

Blake sat there dumbfounded.

"Hunter is 5, that little girl is 7. Thomas and I have been married for 7 years. He's been cheating from the start."

Blake didn't know what to say. He was pissed, but he also felt incredibly bad for Miranda.

"Kelly's on her way."

"Wait, what?"

"Of course I told my best friend Blake. The kids and I are going to be staying with her for awhile. If I even see Thomas, let alone live with him, he's going to meet the other end of my shotgun."

"Why ... what..."

"Because I had to see you. I don't know why either, but ... you and my kids were all I could think about when I found out," she admitted

Blake turned her around and attacked her lips. This was it. Miranda was finally going to be his. This wasn't how he had planned it to end up, but he was finally going to be able to get Miranda and her kids all they deserved. The question was, just how easy was it going to be?
