Chapter One

Lisa’s POV

We were on the plane to England. Dee was listening to music next to me as I thought about the past few days.

“Beauty and the Beat, please stand forward,” the announcer said.

Dee and I squeezed each other’s hands as we stepped forward.

“You two made it to Home Visits!” he told us.

We started jumping up and down, ecstatic and our smiles as wide as the Cheshire Cat.

That moment would have had to be one of the highlights of my life.

“Ugh,” Dee suddenly said standing up, she looked around where Brock and Tyrone were sitting, “Will you two please STOP kicking my seat? It is NOT funny.” She looked pretty pissed off.

Dee strongly disliked planes as her dad died on one.

“Why are you scared? Scared you’re going to die up here?” Tyrone teased. Dee suddenly went mad.

“You would if your father died in one,” she spat back and sat back down, crossing her arms and legs.

“Oh sorry,” he said, he looked guilty. I looked around my seat then mouthed to him, “Don’t worry.” He gave me a small smile.

30 minutes later

I think everyone was asleep on the plane except for Mitchel and I. This was funny, because he was in the middle row which was also next to our seats.

“Hey,” he tried to start a conversation.

“Hi! You’re Mitchel, right?”

He nodded in agreement, “And I’m guessing you’re Lisa! I have to say, your voice is really good!”

I went red in the face; I haven’t ever met someone who had complimented my voice before.

“Hey, don’t blush! Your voice is actually REALLY good,” he reassured.

I wasn’t usually the shy type, but there was something about him that made me feel nervous. I mustered up the courage to mutter a small “Thank you”.

Mitchel tried to continue the conversation by asking, “So, how are you feeling? Nervous? I know I am!”

It was that sentence that blossomed a new friendship, he suddenly became so much easier to talk to.

Dee’s POV

I woke up listening to Mitchel talk to Lisa. And to be honest I was worried, I didn’t hate them, I just didn’t know them enough, and as a matter of fact, yes, they did piss me of with their immature comments.

Lisa laughed, “And then Dee said-”

I got up and out of my seat, straightened my blazer and said, “I said what?” I glared at her.

“Oh, I didn’t see you awake,” Lisa said, “I was telling him about Mrs. Jay at lunch time, do you remember, when she gave you a detention for dancing behind her and-”

“Yeah, whatever,” I got up, “I’m going to the bathroom.”

“Okay…” Lisa looked at me strangely.

Before I left, I quickly checked if we had enough reception so we could use our phones. We could.

In the bathroom I dialed a number that was in America. “Ah mummy, how are you?” I asked.
