XI. ruins

(A/N: so this is basically a rewritten scene yay)

He was six years old when it happened.

Lady Lesso hadn't thought much of the new History professor, August's sister, Evelyn Sader, until it happened.

Evelyn Sader.

Evelyn Sader, the Evil witch.

Evelyn Sader and her butterflies, her spying butterflies, who had ruined her life.

Lady Lesso had been walking through the halls as usual, regal and frightening, when Clarissa had run into her.

"Lady Lesso," her fellow Dean exclaimed, "it's Evelyn-"

"Her butterflies are causing trouble, are they? Stirring up mischief in your Evers? Well, Clarissa, I'm sorry to say that it is none of my business," she cut off. "I do teach my Nevers to insult each other to their faces. Spares me of these dramatics."

So she was in a bad mood, because the Never students had been pathetic little worms in Curses and Death Traps, it was just one day!

"This trouble is too much, Lady Lesso, what if this affects your Nevers as well?" Clarissa pressed on. "You are Evil's Dean, it is your responsibility to control her-"

"And Ever discipline is your responsibility! Why don't you talk to her brother, he's responsible for all this, after all."

"He refuses to speak with me or answer any of my questions! Please, Lady Lesso-" Clarissa practically begged.

"...very well," she acquiesced.

Only for you, Clarissa.

Fast forward.

Lady Lesso sat in front of Evelyn Sader in her icy classroom, glaring at the insolent woman.

"You will cease this behaviour, Evelyn, do you hear me? I will not ask you again. You will stop spying on the students or be removed from this school."

The young woman smiled. It was not a nice smile. It was one promising dark futures and malicious deeds.

"Really, dear Lady Lesso? Now why would I take orders from you? A Dean, who sneaks into the Woods to see the son she abandoned? The son who she can never love?"

Ice started to creep up around Evelyn Sader.

"What did you say?" Leonora, the mother, whispered.

oh Aric I failed you I'm so sorry-

"Not even your fairy godmother lover can save him now. He misses you, does he? Maybe he'll turn out to be as weak as you are. Maybe he'll hate you, oh, how thrilling that would be!"

"Get out."

"Every night you sneak back to him, pretending that you will always love him. You won't ever tell him the truth, will you? Because one day you will have to choose, between you and him... or him and your lover. Fool! Girls cannot love Girls!"

Lady Lesso seethed.

"Get out of my classroom or I will make you wish you had never been born. You will not insult Clarissa, or my son. Do I make myself clear?"

Sader raised one eyebrow... and froze.

There were icy snakes slithering around her, crawling over her, threatening her.

Icicles forming above her, ready to snap.

Lady Lesso's fingertip was glowing dangerously bright, flickering wildly.
