Your favorite song

Oh...oh no. I can't choose just one! Well, the person who challenged me did a top 10 so I'll do one too! Only one per movie, but I'll make an exception if it's animated vs. live action. Let's go!

10. Shiny (Moana)
I blame Schafrillas Productions for my liking of this song. It's fun. It's a lot like Pumped Up Kicks in that you can tell by the lyrics that it's a villain song, but the melody is so jazzy and relaxed that you almost can't tell in first listen. Jermaine Clement definitely had fun doing this.

9. I Won't Say I'm In Love (Hercules)
So, real talk, this song is a guilty pleasure. Not that it's bad by any means, but I have absolutely no real reason to listen to this aside for one very dumb reason. I still listen to it though because it's GOOD.

8. In The Dark of the Night (Anastasia)
I have a newfound love for this song. However, the original isn't very...stellar. Yeah, I prefer the Jonathan Young cover. Not much of a surprise there. He just steals it.

7. Oogie Boogie Song (Nightmare Before Christmas)
Ya like jazz? No? Well TOO BAD! This song is slimy. It's evil, and I love every bit of it. It does meander a bit, but it's so smooth I don't really care all that much.

6. Friend Like Me (Aladdin Animated)
You ever have that friend who is the ultimate wingman? That's this song. Topped with Robin Williams's vocals, this song is a visual treat that may cause sensory overload.

5. Evermore (Beauty and the Beast Live-Action)
This song is just the literal opposite of I Won't Say I'm In Love. I have actual reason to listen to this song, but oh boy, does it have problems. Much like the rest of BatB Live Action, it's so auto tuned and pitch corrected it doesn't sound like singing, but that just makes me want to sing it better because I know I can and I love the lyrics!

4. Make a Man Out Of You (Mulan)
This song is For The Boys TM. Actually, my theater friends play this every night before a show. You'd think I get tired of it, oh no. I get pumped. It's so much fun to sing this with your bros. There are few Disney songs I can classify as For The Boys TM but this one is the pinnacle.

3. Be Prepared (The Lion King Animated)
It's not even a contest in if I prefer live action or animated Lion King. Be Prepared is the textbook example of how bad Live Action was butchered. They somehow ruined this scheming, dastardly song and turned it into a 2 minute long intro with no song to complete it! It's aggravating how much opportunity they threw away! What? Oh yeah, Be Prepared is a great villain song.

2. Hellfire (The Hunchback of Notre Dame)
In case this list hasn't made it obvious, I think villain songs are where Disney gets to fully stretch their muscles and make magic. And no villain song is better than Hellfire. Like, it is objectively the best. You may like other villain songs better, but this one is just the best. The song starts soft, like a symphony, but escalates into a spiraling madness that is Frollo's obsession. The visuals are so simple, but it's striking against the complex designs of the rest of the movie. And the message is the best part. Frollo may be exaggerated, but people like him exist. It's scary how true this song can be to the mindset of someone obsessed about a person. It's simply a masterpiece.

To put it shortly, Frollo is a Yandere. NEXT!!

1. I See The Light (Tangled)
Yeah, remember how I said Villain songs are usually my favorites? This is the exception. I See The Light probably isn't the objective best, but it's the best Disney love song in my heart. By a large amount. I adore the dynamic duet and how absolutely gorgeous this song sounds. It's the only Disney song I would ever consider singing with a partner, and that says a lot. I love every part of this song.
