Six hours earlier
He has always known his mother was working on something which could change the prism life forever since the institute moved in New York City in an abandoned warehouse rotting in an undisclosed location within Brooklyn: the jumping jack power plant. For a human, the mysterious building was just a ruin, which its gritty walls were crisscrossed by rusted pipes and covered by graffiti. Only magical creatures were able to see the prism institute: a building constructed of different- colored glasses. What the interior looked like? You'd better be a boarder to find out.
He noticed her having secret conversation with his young sister Pixie all the time. Although he was the oldest, Pixie had the power to possess a body; he was just good at feeling others energy and catching their deepest thoughts. Not useful for what she was planning apparently. In fact, maybe she regretted having given birth to such an incapable that made her remind of his wretched father.
"Remember guys, we just ask to meet her first" Kai said to the twins: Bob and Rafael, the only from the institute who agreed to follow him albeit they had telekinesis power so he wouldn't be vulnerable if by the way the girl his mother was looking for turned out to be dangerous.
He sighed. "I shouldn't have brought you in these outfits, you look so weird."
"Why are you so sure she will be there?" Rafael asked perplexed.
Kai felt his huge uncertainty. He doubted his conviction and he was fed up that no one trusted him even Bob and Rafael, known as the dumbest kids of the prism institute.
"You know what, you can go. I can do this on my own." He yelled. "And please, I don't need you mercy."
He turned on his right at the end of the sidewalk. The shop was there with the signboard: Weegie...
The night before, he heard Pixie's talk with his mother.
"I want you to bring me Abigail sweetie" She said, her voice was melodious and rich. "We absolutely need her for the next part of the plan... She lives in the 1670 Residence of Third Avenue in Upper East Side. I trust you for the rest."
He grabbed his jacket then headed in Upper East Side in the middle of the cold night through the unsleeping city crowds.
The gray haired guy noticed three illuminating lanterns from where he was then casted carefully a wind spell leading those to him. He had to busy himself since the night was about to drag on.
What if my parents hadn't given up on me?
Kai smirked. "Is that a wish or just a wondering?"
I wish Abigail disappear from my life.
He startled, reading this one. Abigail? Were those lanterns from her? "Why this one want her to disappear?"
I wish to be a brave guy.
"A brave guy would never wish that." He commented.

Bob and Rafael followed him anyway in the store.
"Excuse-me, we are looking for Abigail." He asked, the brown haired girl's lead gray eyes were staring at him without blinking which made him feel a little bit queasy. His power made him feel her tension, insecurity. Her need of controlling and repressing her feelings stifled his own thoughts and avoid his power to go further her emotions. Suddenly, he was terrified. A very dark energy started running through his veins like boiling water, electrifying his body and giving him a feeling he has never felt before: Being powerful. It was from her. The dark magic hidden deeply inside of her invaded him.
Who the hell you are, he thought. Asking him what kind of project his mother intended to do with this girl.
"It's me." She answered. "Can I help you?"
Kai wasn't concentrated with this mass of energy in him but replied her anyway.
"Indeed."
Something caught her attention in the album section;
"I'll be right back." She said.
As soon as she left them, Kai was finally able to breathe normally. He rolled up his sleeves, pretending everything was under control to the twins whom stared at him with their brown pupils. Facing the door, he started drawing a wide invisible circle with his fingers, his right delicately from North to South and his left conversely as he casted a spell.
Ostusomnia pantetibus
He never told anyone about his skills in crafting spells; using specifics moves and a language which sounded like Latin. The more he repeated the spell; the circle he had drawn appeared: a blue magnetic force which he finally pushed through the entry with ferocity.
"What did you just do" asked both Bob and Rafael at the same time, definitely amazed.
"A sleep spell" Kai responded proud of him. "I felt her energy..." The sound of his voice was slightly trembling. He exited without finishing his sentence. It only remained to wait and he could finally make her mother proud of him, bringing Abigail. One question occurred to him though, Where is Pixie? The only thought she didn't show up yet gave him thrills, she definitely had something in her mind.
The twins had finished five boxes of donuts waiting around the corner for two hours now and the target didn't show up yet. Locals were starting to stare at them. Kai was going back and forth losing his patience.
"We'd better move now." Rafael showed the Weegie.
Unfortunately, there was a slight setback. The spell worked; she fell asleep right after she touched the door albeit Athys was with her and ruined Kai's plan.
"Damn it" he yelled. "It turns out that in fact, we should use force to reach her, guys."
"But... Kai, we can't use magic here, there are so much people." Bob stuttered. His brother nodded and added.
"He is right."
Longer they waited, he feared Pixie would sooner or later gets in his way; nonetheless, he was too involved to give up now. He took a deep breathe to cool down his anger then followed Athys's footsteps...
This guy will repent of getting in his way, he thoughts.
