"Nathan?" My mom said breaking the silence
"Yeah?" Isaid
"How are things at school?" She asked
"Fine." I said taking one earplug out.
"Any problems?" She asked avoiding eye contact
"Well," I said looking at her "I do have this one problem..."
"Yes." She said paying full attention
"First of all I have a mother who thinks she's some sort of psychologist. What should I do about it, see my first thought was to confront her." I told her "chillax mom I'm fine."
"Well it's just..." She started "you've changed, this whole gothic look and all the make-up it just isn't you."
"Oh, you think I've changed?!" I said "Coming from the women who's never even been there for her only child and left them alone every single day with some stranger! You left me at home to tutor myself!"
"We didn't..." My said defensively
"No, You did." All my childhood memories were flooding back to me "You didn't know a single thing about me; you probably couldn't even remember how old I was. Can you tell me what I did on June the fith for the past 13 years of my life? I sat in my bedroom wearing a paper hat and drawing myself an imaginary cake!"
I opened the car door and walked off; I spun my head around & saw my mom wipe the tears off of her face. Before I could apologize she drove off. I didn't mean to go all wacko; the words just... came out. When I got into the studio I started drawing as soon as possible, I had drawn a picture of Bruce lying dead in the rain and then I drew Aiden... burning in hell! It was only 5:30pm when I was done. It was raining cat and dogs outside, so I called my dad.
The conversation went a bit like this:
"Can you pick me up?"
"Your mom told me about what happened."
"Can we talk about that later?"
"No. Why did you do that you? I know for sure you knew it would hurt her. Your mom refuses to come out of her room; she even locked the door so I could go inside. She gone of the rails!"
"Bu..."
My dad had turned off the phone before I could say anything else. It only took him 15 minutes for him to arrive. I plugged in my head phones so I didn't have to here dad shouting at me and I wouldn't have to put up with any silent tension.
