Chapter 23
Kristof can tell that the human pup before him has been through too much. It is there in his eyes, the haunted look. And his heart broke a little. No pup should feel that way. They should be treasured and loved. The pup ate very little at first. That wouldn't do.
Kristof handfed him. The kid glared for a few moments before he gave in.
"As if that would work on him. No one can out glare the Elder King Consort," snorted an amused Agatha.
Kristof scoffed as he continued feeding the pup.
"Are you going to tell us your name?" asked Kristof casually. They have been here for a few hours now. It is almost nightfall. This has been going on for the past couple of days. The pup is too stubborn for his own good.
"He is scared. I can smell it. Also worried," said Niles as he sat down next to Kristof.
Kristof looked at the pup.
"You know you are safe here right?" asked Kristof. The kid was silent.
"I think all this clutter is affecting him," said Nikolas.
"Do we have rooms we can move him to?" asked Agatha.
"Every single room is filled except in the royal wing. He can stay there," said Nikolas.
"Yes, we can move the pups who are not visited by their parents to one of the bigger rooms. Among the 30 pups, 12 of them has parents. A couple of them have close bonds with their caretakers that Nikolas suspect will adopt them soon. They have had few of the childless couples visiting, obviously hoping to adopt one of the pups.

Eilam looked around the Pack House. The cleaning works was coming around nicely and the furniture is coming in from the nearest town. They have identified over 200 scattered living spaces to till the hill. A few of them are unusable. They are being rebuilt while the rest is being renovated. The nearby packs- The Violet Hill Pack and Red Valley Pack are actively helping them. Eilam has met with the alphas of the pack. They seem like good neighbours. In fact, they have event sent a few wolves of their own to help in the works.
The alpha of Violet Hill Pack is a woman- Tianna. She came with her Luna Galen, a male omega. They were a nice couple and good leaders. The Red Valley Pack is ruled by Pack Alpha Hector Clyne who is at least a 70 -years old and his Luna Joanna. They were kind and had come with their youngest son, the next Alpha in line- Juano. He is around Eilam's age and he thinks he has made a friend.
It was evident from the conversation that the packs were happy with the fact that there won't be a huge threat in the form of a rogue pack anymore. Eilam can understand their perspective. As rogues, they only had survival in their mind back then.
"This is all coming around nicely. Have you made a list as to who will get what place to stay in?" asked Juano as they walked through the woods.
"Yes. I have spoken to the people. Some of them do not want to live in a crowded living system and wants their space. Some of them have families which they want to thrive on their own little space. I have arranged them on a priority basis. They will start moving in from tomorrow. Zuget and Marco are overseeing it," said Eilam.
"You will need to form a strong Pack Hunter regiment and Pack Warrior regiment. The wise thing to do would be to ask Alpha Hunter Vasileios for help. He is the best there is," said Juano.
"Yes. I am planning on it. Hopefully, he won't refuse. Do you have omega Pack House guards?" asked Eilam.
"My father is a traditionalist. Alpha King Stefanos was having none of it and asked my father to let the omegas do what they want or that we won't have any omegas to impose our will on. My father maybe a traditionalist, but he is clever. He knew better than to refute. It was some five years back. I think having Elder King Consort in the family has helped the royals as well as all the packs in understanding that omegas are no pushovers. Obviously, there was Prince Nikolas. He is a great warrior who can bring down any Alpha. I have heard that he has thrown the Alpha King from the ring when they were 20 and 18 respectively. But, it was limited to the royal family then. No one else wanted to see it and were mouthing off about the Elder King allowing his omega brother privileges. That changed when the Elder King Consort arrived. The Royal Pack did not have omega pack guards till he arrived. A year after his arrival, people were scare to speak after seeing him train itself. Anyway these are all stories I have heard," said Julius.
