“I don’t understand”.

“I knew you wouldn’t”.

“Can you just, explain it again”?

“Fine. This town is different from most. There is something we call the dome, it affects how your brain works. Your mom is one of the scientists that is working on creating the dome. When I was younger they used me as a guinea pig for their dome. I’m not messed up in the head because of my parents, it's because of the dome experiments. This dome is supposed to manipulate the brain. Because they were still experimenting on me, the chemical balance was off, and it made me much smarter than most, but insane. It also explains why I am more physically able than normal ”.

“But, why? Why would they do this? I mean my mom is a good person”.

“They want to create an alfa human. In this town Warrington Incorporated, which is the name of the company, is working on brain manipulation, most towns are”

“Most towns”?

“Yes, Doonatel isn’t the only town, now pay attention, I’ll explain everything. Only a few towns work on physical manipulation. They believe that an alfa brain is more important than an alfa body, which is one of the only few things I agree with the Warringtons on”.

“I’ve seen that name,” I paused, “It's all over town, the hospital, on a few truc-wait! I’ve seen that name in all the towns I’ve lived in”.

“Yes, there are two sides to this, The Warringtons, that's the side your mom is on, and the resistance, my side. Now that you know about this you need to choose one”.

“I, I don’t know, I'm gonna need some time”. I couldn’t believe how long this whole thing had been hidden behind my back.

“The longer you wait the higher you get on our lists” 

“What lists”? I acted like I didn’t know about the one I found in her bag earlier

“Stop acting ignorant. I know you saw it, you folded it wrong when you put it back. Anyways the list are people that certain members of the resistance need to take out. Like your mother and father. They were our main threats, we got one of them”.

“You killed my dad?! My mom said he died in a car accident”!

“I didn’t kill your father, that was 5, he is highly respected by resistance members. Now it's my turn to get my respect”.

I was fuming, she was trying to kill my whole family. I had made my decision. “I’m not going to join your side. You are killing innocent people-”

“They aren’t so innocent”. She interrupted

I ignored her “You and your resistance are trying to stop something that sounds like improvement to the human race, and I think that you are just being selfish, just because someone did something bad to you, doesn’t mean they can't help other people”.

 “Okay,” she shrugged, “You’ll either join my side, or we’ll take you out eventually, just like your mother and father”. She leaned towards me, “You didn’t make the right choice Jeremy, I mean I was your choice, but your just going to wear some lab coat and carry around a clipboard will your dear little mommy, then watch her die, and everyone else in that little lab, and I’ll make sure your the last one to get killed in unimaginable ways, and the thing is, we won’t get caught. I may be only 16, but I’ve killed more people than you can imagine, and gotten away with every single one. Anyways, I have work to do”. She walked over to my window, and climbed through, before Smithy was gone she looked right into my eyes, “Just a matter of time, Jeremy”. Then she was gone, like she had never been here. I didn’t understand how she could flip from a friend to threatening to kill me and my family in the blink of an eye. I finally understood why people found her so scary.
