I hold onto Sam's hand as he limps beside me, listening as he hums quietly. I look down at him from time to time, debating carrying him to get him out of the cold, winter air faster.

"Sam... Are you sure you don't want me to carry you back to my place? I don't want you to freeze out here."

"We're not that far now, Guy. I can walk fine, honest."

I breathe out, watching as the puff circles around the cold air. I knew he was right, and that I was just worrying too much, but I can't just stand around and see my lover in pain. I'm stopped by a hand on my stomach and I look down at Sam again.

"You good, hun? We're back at your place," Sam smiles slightly, nodding his head towards my house.

I blush at the name, and smile back with a nod, grabbing my key and letting us both into the warmth of my home. I watch as Sam stands in the middle of the main room, his gaze caught on the window he had seen his other self in only a few days ago. I could tell that he was getting lost in his mind, lost in whatever fears still circled around within his mind.

I walk in front of Sam and kneel to look him in his eyes, cupping his cheek gently in my hand, seeming to knock him out of his trance.

"He's gone, Sam. I promise," I start, rubbing my thumb against his cheek. "I'm not gonna let anything else happen to you."

He only nods, then pulls me into a hug, his arms wrapped around my neck. I hold the back of his head and the back of his thigh to keep him supported as I lift him up, his face buried into my chest fur.

"Would there be any problem with crashing down on my bed and just laying there for hours end doing nothing but staring up at the ceiling?"

Sam chuckles and pulls his head out of my chest, my other hand moving to support him fully from underneath. "Not entirely, but only if I get to cuddle with you," He retorts, more giggles escaping his mouth as I lean forward, planting kisses all over his face.

"I'll think about it," I smirk, finally bringing his lips to mine.

Sam sighs contently as he deepens the kiss, ruffling the fur on the back of my head. We pull away and smile at each other, and I set Sam on the floor as he lets out a displeased whine.

"Relax," I chuckle. "I'm just going to make some food."

I walk into the kitchen and open a cabinet, pulling out a box of cereal along with two bowls and placing them down on the counter. I grab the carton of milk out of the fridge, my eyes getting pulled to the picture of all of us together - me, Sam, E.B., and Michellee. I reach for the photo and take it off of the fridge, rubbing it gently as I smile slightly, then put it back as I open the fridge and get the milk. After I pour the milk and put the carton back, I walk out into the living room, bowls in hand.

I sit down on the couch and hand Sam one of the bowls as he sits next to me, feeling his head hit my arm gently. I look down at him and watch as he swirls the flakes around with his spoon.

"Something on your mind?" I ask, wrapping my arm around his shoulder, pulling him into a sideways hug.

"I just... I never thought I would get to be with you. It feels surreal," Sam smiles timidly as he looks up at me, scooting closer to me.

I chuckle lightly, rubbing his arm with a smile, "Well, technically you were already with me, but... you know," I smile, watching as he rolls his eyes playfully.

I place a quick kiss on his lips, then start eating my already-soggy cereal. I reach for the T.V. remote as I chew, crossing my legs as I sit back. I look back down at Sam, seeing him bob his head to no rhythym in particular.

I smile, taking another bite of my cereal, feeling Sam push his head into my side.

"What's up, Sam?" I ask, ruffling the fur on his head.

"Sleepy time... but cereal..." Sam mumbles, pulling his head out on my side and looking up at me. "Maybe it's sleepy cereal time."

I chuckle, recieving a groggy smile in return, "So are you going to finish your food before passing out, or will I have to do it for you?"

He groans, taking a bite from his cereal as he sits back on the couch.

"Hey," Sam starts. "Do you still have the dress you got me around here?"

"You want to wear it again, don't you?"

"It's comfy, don't judge." He scrunches up his nose at me, recieving a kiss on his forehead from me as I stand up and walk back into the kitchen.

I put my now-empty bowl in the sink, turning around to see Sam limping up to me, and I take his bowl from him, saving him from having to walk the rest of the way. He waits for me to put the bowl down, then lifts his arms up in a grabbing motion.

I smile and pick him up, rocking gently from side to side as he burries his face in the crook of my neck. Sam sighs and wraps his arms around my back, and I hold him tight, not wanting to ever let go. For as long as I live, the safety of the man before me will always be cherished. Whatever harm may come, I'll put myself first to keep Sam safe.

After all this time, the thought of being with Sam still astounds me. With everything we've been through together, I had never thought it could bring us closer, yet it has. Out of all the people I could choose to spend the rest of my days, I wouldn't choose anyone other than him. I love Sam, more that anyone will ever know. He's my flower, my rosebud, my petal drifting in the wind, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
